The wife and I had a base model '07 Taurus as a loaner when our Focus was having some warranty work done and I really liked it. It was nearly unstoppable in the snow and had no rear ABS... hello left foot braking!
The single gripe I had was the wallowy suspension.
Taurus? You're forgetting the SHO love, and that is a Taurus. Even the regular ones were fairly good cars if you managed to button down the suspension a bit.

Pretty sure Ridgeline sales are worse....course that isn't saying much.
