Yes, modulars are awesome!! My buddy is a builder/seller of these...

Sign the contract and in 34 days you are moving in. Seriously... Construction is all done in a climate controlled warehouse and everything is perfect and all tollerances are spot on. We really considered this route when we built our house, but we wanted a solid concrete foundation.

Can't suggest a particular builder, but an unemployed custom builder might be an option. One of my friends did this in the early '90's. Hired a high end custom builder who hosed himself by buying a bunch of lots in a really high end neighborhood in NOVA right before that economic slowdown. Builder couldn't swing the note on his lots, declared bankruptcy, and had something like 7-8 kids to feed. My friend was the GC on paper and paid the builder about half of the normal 15% fee to run the job. My friend also did take on some of unskilled labor tasks. He did all the cleanup (every day going through gathering the trash, sweeping, etc and dragging it to the dumpster) and primed all the drywall and trim.

While a 5 year old zombie thread is most certainly worth ignoring, what the heck is the part about Poopy exposing himself to my kids???

This place really concerns me sometimes!

My guess is he's still building it. Might be why he hasn't been around much.
