Not sure if this is on mine or it gets filed under "I'm too smart to try that".

The guy at 1:30, that'd be me.....

I love the idea of this but you need to be mentally damaged to do that, or just not care about your life.

I'm sure it only seems pants-E36 M3ting to those of us who aren't experienced with sportbikes.

I'm not comfortable sharing this with my kids. I'm going to watch it again after I put them to bed tonight.

So you routinely zip through small town streets and country roads at 200 mph? Never mind. I really don't want to know the answer.

I'm not pooh-poohing them, but it's the same way that WRC driving seems rather difficult and risky but not crazy to us, but pants-E36 M3tingly terrifying and certifiably bonkers to the average Joe.

The part where the bikes get speed wobbles at 100+ after cresting, with only one wheel on the ground? YIKES.

That all looks fine and normal for a hillclimb type environment. The guys with the serious case of the crazy - are the ones adding ballast to a side car around there at those speeds.

Lunacy, thy name is sidecar guy

Even the MotoGP guys think the TT guys are mental. They all go fast, and they all fall off every now and again. It's just the stone walls, trees, distance from medical attention... Even if you dial back the aggression to compensate for the greater variables, the penalties for falling off at the IoM are likely to be much worse.

I really want to ride the TT course. I might even harbor dreams of racing a small vintage bike in the Manx GP. Maybe with more time on a bike I'd start to want to try to ride it for a personal best on a faster bike... I guess I don't know how much margin these guys are leaving. Sometimes seems like John McGuinness always has a margin. Clearly some folks don't leave enough, and sometimes even with a big margin things just go wrong.

I don't think it's indefensible to decide to do it (obviously, as I mumble about wanting to do so at some level), but I think it's in a different ballpark of risk from most motorsport when they're riding to win.
