Some of you probably read Dusty, my dog passed away a couple of weeks ago. He had a fast growing cancer and we had to put him to sleep.
Fast forward through two weeks of not having to worry about stepping on him and coming home to silence, we visited the local SPCAs. All three of them.
My wife almost came home with a albino Great Dane.
We don't have a fenced yard so common sense prevailed. (He was a sweetheart though.)
At the last stop we found the perfect dog...twice.
One is a 3 yo Chihuahua/Corgi/Mutt named Maddie. She it the only calm and collected Chihuahua mix I have ever seen. I've heard her bark once.
The other is a 10 month old Yorkshire/Terrier/Mutt named Napoleon. He is the goofiest little puppy. He should have been named Gilligan. But since he answers to Napoleon, he's stuck with it.
If you want a third, I'll give you my wife's chi-wiener . I'll deliver, and I'll even throw in few cats.
Who could say no to a deal like that!

She was a sweet dog. Deaf as a post though and known to suffer separation anxiety. That would probably play hell with my house and furniture.
Yeah, the separation thing would be brutal if you're both working. I've had deaf pets before (I had a ferret was so damn deaf I almost vaccuumed her up a few times because she'd come haulin' out and not realize there was workin' happening) and they're hilarious. I'd probably have gone with her... I'm stupid like that and someone is ALWAYS home. Looks like you got two decent ones instead, and probably still weigh less put together.
The wife is home most of the time, but caring for a dog that large would be brutal without a fenced yard for it to run in. Maddie and Napoleon tip the scales at 9# each. Or less than a weeks worth of dog food for a Dane.
Yay for new buddies!!!
I hope the Dane finds a good home. They're such sweeties I'll bet he does soon.
the funny thing about Dane's is they think they're lap dogs … if you're on the couch, they WILL try to get up in your lap ..that is a load
Mutts are the best.
Genetic diversity win!
(I would personally recommend NOT getting pure bred dogs in general)
Awesome!
We couldn't be more happy about the 2 slightly used furballs we got recently. They'll never replace Trixie, but they're a lot of fun to be around and w/ 2, they're never bored while were away at work.
