Looking for steel toe walking/ tennis shoes. Must be steel, not composite toe. More flexible/ cushioned shanks and heel preferred so hikers and boots are prolly out. I already have a good pair of boots that I'll eventually work my way back into from current walking shoes so these will be mostly for transition, or if they're that good permanent.
I walk an average of 5 miles/ 8 hr shift on concrete floors. I'll be coming back to work from SL after knee scope surgery, PT and have a heel spur on the same side so cushioning is very important. Recently bought a pair of NB 606s that are excellent for walking but no steel toes.
Any recommendations?
Iron age shoes. I think they are still around.
Dr Martins Heavy steel toed and very very comfortable.
I wear CAT composite toes when I'm not in my ST boots but that's not an option.
Adidas does have some true steel toed tennys though I have no experience with them.

I wear shoes from this place. I can get away with composite, but they also have good shoes with Steel Toe.

When you say NB606 my guess is this is New Balance model 606. I too wear pretty much NB wide size exclusively but I do not need steel toe. NB also produces another brand named Dunham and they offer steel. This link should lead you to some examples:

I also like Keens and they offer a line of steel toe hike shoe.

My work lets us choose a pair once a year just to put in my two cents the puma ones and the converse both fell apart well before the year was up. I'm not sure if those were steel or composite
One of my old coworkers bought a pair of steel toes that looked like normal office shoes and were comfortable so he could wear them in the office but also had the steel toe so he didn't have to change shoes if he needed to check something down on the shop floor.
I think they were these. shoes
Redwing also has these, if you want something more athletic.

I've got a pair of Keen steel-toe shoes that are a cross between a hiking shoe and a tennis shoe (at least how I think of them). Got them because the aircraft shop I had to spend a lot of time in technically required them (though almost nobody actually followed that rule), but they have rapidly become my default shoe to wear when I'm not wearing my nicer office shoes.
