My school actually sent out a notice to everyone on campus about the Swine flu. I think everyone except those of us in the Bio department is worried about it. For us its just business as usual, most of us have played with far more dangerous stuff in the labs lol.

EDIT: Just heard the "Mexican Flu" thing on the news, too. The anchor said that symptoms of the Mexican Flu were fever, sweating, weakness and diahrrea. I think he meant "Mexican Food" not Mexican flu.
Is it bad that a whole bunch of new racist jokes flew into my head just now? I love all people, but man, can my mind dig up some horrible jokes. They're probably pretty funny though.
Hmm, i guesse waiting till 12/21/2012 is to long for the news to go with out an "end of the world" story

here is a fun statistic for you, 1 in 3 men leave the restroom without washing thier hands... I see it more often than not, so I believe it. WASH YOUR HANDS!
i am not a germaphobe, but I hate it when people leave the bathroom without washing...
Reminds me of a joke.
A is guy walking out of a restroom without washing his hands. Another guy sees this and says, "My parents taught me to wash my hands after using the restroom."
First guy replies, "That's great; my parents taught me not to piss on my hands."
You can alter that joke to insult your favorite (or least-favorite) occupation, higher learning institution, state, country, religion, ethnic group, etc.

Won't someone think of the pigs?

There they stood, Tabitha and Sabrina, the loneliest animals at the Queens Zoo in Flushing.
Despite the name "swine flu," it's extremely rare for humans to be infected by being near a pig.
But most people don't know that, so Tabitha and Sabrina, two female hogs, were left all but ostracized yesterday, along with their Vietnamese pot-bellied pal, Barbie.
"I would never let my kids try to pet the pigs. I wouldn't let my kids feed the pigs because of the saliva," said Lorie Cudzil, 33, who brought her son, Sean, 3, and daughter, Abigail, 17 months, to the zoo.
"They say it's a human-to-human virus, but it raises a good question: How did the first person get swine flu?" she asked.
How did the first person get swine flu, no doubt it was by petting a pig in a zoo.

Well, I was over my buddies last night helping him with brakes. His wife got home with his daugheter from the docs. She has the swine flu. The doc said, it's no worse than a normal flu, not digestional (no vomitting, thank GOD). It's just really contagious (sp). She said the worst part of it is the media hype. 2-3 days and it's gone, but EVERYONE in your family will get it.

Nobody is talking about the economy this week......hmmmmmm
Exactly. The major news networks can't talk about this crap enough. Trying to distract everybody for the big 100 days in power speech tonight.
This is an interesting read:

Also, the tremendous hype over no real danger has lead to The O's "Kill All the Babies" pick for the head of government medicine to be approved "so she can deal with this terrible health emergency." I still don't see how a lawyer should be in charge of medical stuff. Anyway, I see a "never let a crissis go to waste" event going on here.

My concern is that this obviously engineered* epidemic is Mexicos opportunity to remove the rest of the non Mexicans from their continent. Their spy network has already infiltrated our construction and food industries. It is only time before North America is back to Aztlan**
* Really, how obvious?
* * Okay I am talking out my ass but some blogger will find my conspiracy theory and it WILL end up on Fox News.
Well since Tamiflu works well on the Swine flu, I bet they engineered it and turned it loose. You may recall Tamiflu wasn't very effective against the last main strain of flu, so they need to get their numbers up.
I remember the London flu and the Honk Kong flu and escaped both of those. But I did get an asskicking version in 1983 that I thought was going to kill me. I was out of work for a week and it took me a whole month to get back to full steam.

Really? I don't have much to do with the medical industry but I could almost see doctors being required to be lawyers these days!!

Frank has Swine Flu. When he got home, he gave it to his wife, and then his daughters. Then he gave it to his mother. His mother gave it to the taxi driver, the ticket counter agent, and the flight attendent (she also gave them Swine Flu).
I have a sniffle, it must be swine flu, ZOMG. But Wait, there's more... At work I had a salmon pin bone(rib) go into my finger an inch splinter style. And it was all raw, so I must now have salmonila and the salmon lice that is hitting a lot of salmon farms!!!!!!

the press has really bitten into this one, and one of the local school districts has a panicky type coordinator whos stirred people up to point of teetering on mass hysteria. I spoke to few last night who were convinced that they needed to stock up on food because the whole state of florida would soon be shut down and confined to there homes...ugh...
I have a contact with an in at the state emergency operations center, so we gave him a call "just in case" the response...
yeah, there monitoring it, but theyre far more concerned with the wild fires and have no immediate plans on mobilizing on the flu, and aren't terribly concerned at the moment.
some of the douchbags in the press need to stfu, the economy is bad enough without having people scared to the point where they're afraid to leave their homes.. incredible...
Fort Worth Independent School District has closed all the schools down till Monday the 11th because of 1 confirmed case
