Im waiting for the technology behind the plug in hybrid ball to become more cost effective. Until then, I will be happy with low cost, used market balls. I am happy letting the balls original owner take the depreciation hit.

Im one of 3 huge bat manufacturers that operate domestically. Ever since the ball market deregulation happened, my company has been in the red. If I close my doors, thousands and thousands of bat makers will be on the street. I need a bailout or else the bat market will completely fall apart, and then bread lines...

It is my understanding that the "drop in" automatic inflation valve has been grandfathered in to the federal regulation. If you can find one, it will legally convert you ball to fully automatic.

In my opinion on green, status symbol balls, I would bypass the specialty stores and go for mail order retail: Hammacher Schlemmer, The Sharper Image, Sky Mall. . .
Also, there will still be a need of a service workforce within country for the care and cleaning of said balls, regardless. . . unless it can become automated. . .
