Wtf? Who made you the forum police? You having a bad day?
It's getting harder and harder to tell who the trolls are.
My wife told me last night when she picked me up from the airport. I was pretty gutted. The Foo Fighters has been one of my favorite bands since 1997. I even did my first vanity plate ever to reflect my favorite song:
I've been to 6 Foo Fighters concerts and everyone of them was an epic display of talent and enthusiasm to share their music with the world. From my perspective, rock drummers tend to fall into the background and get forgotten about. Not Taylor. His presence could not be ignored and was so much fun to watch.
RIP

John's #4 post above should have made it clear who he was:

Well, someone died, so, yeah, probably.
This one hurts. A lot.
One of my favorite bands, and he was one of my favorite drummers. Way, way too young.

So when you're done grieving check out Steve Gadd and Vinnie Colaiuta
Seriously? Fighting over not knowing a name? Almost as bad as the folks on here that posted how glad they were that a certain person had died, when someone posted that.
Very childish, folks.
I did not know the name, but the band references cleared it up for me.
Thank you for posting that video, it was amazing and I would have never found that on my own. The Foos are/were? such a hard driving band, but that song seems much more poignant with that treatment and in the wake of Taylor's death.

As far as I know, no one did.
It bothered me that someone was being a jerk for no reason and I mentioned it.
Lo siento
In reply to z31maniac :
So you decided he was being a jerk (maybe I'm just not as smart and sophisticated as you, cause I missed it) and decided that being a jerk in every post since then, was the correct way to contribute to a thread about someone that died.
Sorry, I must not be up to date in modern social manners.
Glad I'm not, as well.

How is mentioning he's never heard of the guy being a jerk? I've seen it on other threads when someone famous dies. Can you name the drummer from every group?

Lots of people die everyday.

Most people move on, unless they want to feel superior by proclaiming they don't know who someone was.

Lots of people die everyday.
And if the person who died is someone you care about, you might be inclined to have a bad day.

In an interview, someone asked Keanu Reeves what he thought happens after people die.
"The people who love them will be very sad."

I know both of their work well, especially Gadd. Spent hours studying his stuff with my old drum teacher. For example, check out the song Aja by Steely Dan. When he goes off in that one, it's incredible. And hell, I have a Gadd-style 15" tom in my kit. But not sure what they have to do with any of this. There are plenty of other drummers who are great that are still alive. That's not the point.

Yes I did.
What is the point of going into a thread about someone dying to say "don't know him"
It's unnecessary. That was my only point.

Many of us have had a richer life for knowing Taylor Hawkins and his art. I'm happy he was able to find some bands to be able to be what he was.

By being a long winded jerk to him, you "only" point was woefully missed. I am sorry you cannot see or accept this, but there it is.
Now, I think we should all get back to the thread.
I did not know the man, but he will obviously be missed
