It's one of the few cities my wife and I are considering relocating. It would greatly help my future career prospects as Technical Writer and I think there will be even more as Google's fiber network is laid out.
Good parts, bad parts, etc.
I suspect being from Tulsa, OK, it will be fairly similar, I just don't know enough about the different burb's etc.
I am from Columbia (2 Hours east) and I like the area. A friend of mine is from Liberty and really liked it there. I think that Tulsa to KC would be similar and maybe even a little nicer (guessing, no idea). It seems to be a nice Midwestern city.
Do you know if there are any good web sites that illustrate things like laws/taxes/neighborhoods that are good for reference?
they have google fiber... https://fiber.google.com/cities/kansascity/plans/
that and the fact that it is not in Kansas is all I know lol

They like to brag about bbq. Their baseball. Is terrible. Football is better. I'd never live there, but you couldn't pay me to live anywhere in mo.
I've been looking around the front range in CO personally, but not sure I want to make the change for a few years.
Check out city-data.com's forums for some good reference form locals. Every area seems to have someone posting something..

Keep your kids out of the public schools, whatever you do.
First company I worked for out of college was based in KC, Ks. Seems to me most folks lived in Shawnee or Overland Park? Our plant was down on the river in like a chemical alley (5200 Speaker Road I think).

No kids and we don't want any.
