The Art of Racing in the Rain
OK, so I am Starbucks Saturday becuase I was out of coffee and I am a caffiene addict, and I started paging though this book. I went to Boarders the next day and they didn't have it, so I went back to Starbucks and bought it. The last book I read this ravenously was "The Last Open Road" by BS Levy. This is along the same ilk.
Yes, I am the demographic becuase I love racing and I love my dogs, but this is still a great story. I finished it in two days. It is about an amatuer driver and his family through crisis as told by the dog. The dog watches TV and has become self aware. I have read heartfelt tributes to pets here, so I know a lot of folks get this concept.
If you are even interested in racing or dogs, you will love this book. Even if your not, its still a great read. A bit clique at the climax, but the story admits that itself.
I saw somebody reading that just the other day. Wanted to know what it was, myself.

What if I'm interested in dog racing?

As long as it's wet dogs, you're OK.
I thought the title of the book was supposed to be completely misleading -- I too saw the book at Starbucks and opened it up, but I thought: this probably has NOTHING to do with racing.
OK, so I'm going to buy it tomorrow.
Great post!

There will be a short review in the Nov. GRM on it. I read it and wrote the review. Overall I was pretty impressed. It is an easy read and the "lessons" it does have about racing ring true. The author is actually an amateur racer in the Northwest.
I read it about a month ago. It was pretty good, but it was sort of repetitive. the end made me shed a few tears.
enzo is cool, however, i expected more racing related content
When I saw the title of this post I immediately thought of Barichello, Heidfield, Fischecella..

Hmmm why would racers in the Northwest know about racing in the rain?
Heck I was learning to drive on ice and half flooded roads before I ever drove on dry pavement.
true that ^
The Art of Racing in the Snow would be more interesting!

If it makes any difference it was a well written review. I don't think that mine did any better of a job summing up the book. Over all a good read. I would pass it along to the girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, husband, or third cousin significant other. It might help them understand your obsession.

Indeed, I am pushing the wife to read it now. I think she's a bit scared from some of the sections where I teared up. We have 17 year old terrier with legs problems, a lot of grey in his snout who spends a lot of time sleeping. We know its coming but don't like to think about it.
Oddly enough his name is Bugatti.
Its definitely on my list. I've read a few reviews so far and it sounds good. Thanks for reminding me to go ahead and pick it up.
