Well, both my kids (10 and 9) called me. Which is awesome because I haven't seen them in 2 years . I miss them tons!
I bought my pop some running boards for his redneck limousine (crew cab F350) since him and my mom are getting up in age (mid 60s). They should be here Tuesday. And yes, they come with free installation .
For dinner, he wanted to cook. He likes to cook. He made fried chicken, southern fried cabbage with bacon and sweet corn on the cob.
It was delicious
I got my gift Saturday, the living room TV and a little 24 hour race in France. Sunday we had the In laws and my brother over for some steak off the grill. The only thing that would have made it better is if my dad could have come but he is married to a preacher so Sundays are tough.

We had my sister and her family over on Saturday for a visit. I spent most of the day tinkering on stuff with my brother in-law. Good day.
The kids got me a pair Polk Audio outdoor speakers and I got to spend Father's Day morning at Mosport. I then spent 6 hours driving horses around and got home for a very late dinner of leftovers.
Both my daughters came over for supper, plus one boyfriend and my only grandson. My two daughters managed to get along for two hours.

I got a new shirt, stayed up most the night watching Le Mans, and then did a few hours of yard work taking down two palm trees that died this past winter.
Wife had to work 10 hour days on both Saturday and Sunday, but the toddler and I got out to cars and coffee.
We had a good time.
Apple pie, key lime pie, and a holster for my new pistol. The best part? Spending it with my dad.

JBL CHARGE3 portable Bluetooth speaker, in blue. Best color in my opinion. This was a replacement for my aging, and audio-channenged Photive Cyren black box Bluetooth speaker. (Jay knows how much I love music and knew I needed to step up).
My Father's Day swag
Jay had a great cookout at his house for Annie and me as well as DIL's parents up from NJ. Problem was, I had a colonoscopy scheduled for today (piss-poor planning on my part) and couldn't eat anything. Had to leave at 3:00 to begin the wonderful prep for this morning's event, so we missed the gigantic firepit fire last night. Anyway, it's all over now and I'm enjoying my new speaker. Thanks Jay!

My 10 and 8 year old daughters took a plain white T-shirt and one drew Good Cop from the Lego Movie on the front and the other drew Bad Cop on the back.. They used Sharpies so I can't ever wash it but I think it needs a glass frame to be preserved for posterity. :)
My daughters birthday is basically celebrated on fathers day every year. She's the reason I'm a dad and its great to celebrate that with her.
Ended up doing a lot of work around the house to clean up and get ready for the party, and then play host. Took off work yesterday and went to the National Zoo in DC. Fun, but tiring.
Feels selfish but I wish I could have just done absolutely nothing for a day this weekend but it just ended up being kind of hectic.
A couple guys were joking at church on Sunday that most dads probably want everyone else to just leave the the house for a few hours. But you cant just SAY that.
Recital Friday for my 18-year old which wend really well. Then graduation party for him Saturday. We had plenty of leftovers for Sunday and all I wanted was some burgers on the grill for dinner.
Previously, my other half approved a large Kobalt toolbox for the garage which I've now had for about 6 weeks, and the garage is actually more usable than it's been in probably a decade. Time to putter there and make it a little better every day is a joy right now.
Then I was surprised by an invitation from my 18 year old to go to a play Sunday (Ain't Misbehavin') and a truly wonderful heartfelt card. There were handmade cards from some of the other kids that just amaze me.
So what did I get for Father's Day? The same thing as every year... a truly awesome group of kids.
