I got my tickets.... Friday's were about sold out here so we went with a Saturday matinee, which was also cheaper. Who else has theirs?

Going with daughter2, son-in-law (married daughter1), and his brother. S-i-L bought the tickets at the box office the day they went on sale, when the online ticket sales crashed.
Sad, this will be the first ever Star Wars movie I haven't seen on opening day. I'll go sometime during the first week though with the family.
My suppressed dark side power would be hard pressed not to force-choke some of the moronic padawans on Opening Day. SWMBO and I are going to let it run for a week, then do an early morning Saturday showing at the AMC; no lines at the concession, theater only half full, uber wide full reclining seats. "You will know, when calm you are"
Tried to get tickets the night the trailer came out, was unsuccessful. But the next morning I got right through. The boy and I are going on Friday as soon as he gets home from school.
Only if you went alone and the theater was full of 10 year olds. Don't ask them if they want to see your light sabre.
Had 7pm seats for the 17th, but then we scheduled the GRM Annual wintertime non-denominational holiday season fest-o-ganza® for that night, so I had to bail on that and switch to Friday. Not that I'm complaining (our parties feature sushi), although our holiday party is literally across the stress from the theater I was going to. At some point I may just get up and say "I'm going to the restroom, order me a Diet Coke." and come back two hours later covered in popcorn crumbs and Wookie urine.

I find large groups of fan-boy people unsettling. no offense. It's also unlikely you'll see me willingly in an Apple store.
My strategy is to wait until after the opening weekend insanity has slightly abated. I bought tickets for Monday the 21st. I also bought the "premium experience" tickets in an effort to keep some of the riff-raff out of my movie-going experience.
The first movie I can remember seeing in the theaters was Episode IV. Needless to say I've been a lifelong Star Wars dork. I was thrilled about the prequels, then of course horrified. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. Please don't screw this up J.J.
Grtechguy wrote: Nope. No desire. I'll wait for the dvd.
I'll second this. I can't even imagine the amount of stupid that will be happening opening week.

Despite my flannel shirt and facial hair I was asked to leave an Apple store after being told I was too old/uncool to operate an iPod.
Am I the only one with no desire to see this or any Star Wars movie?

I wanted opening weekend experience, but I know (if it's good) I'll see it again around the holidays, less crowded. I kind of wanted the crazy Friday night extravaganza, but I'll settle for Saturday.
And Wall-e: Yes, if not the only then you are one of the few.

You are not alone Wall-e. Although I appreciate others enthusiasm, and am glad they get to geek out over another movie in an ongoing saga. The first three were plenty for me. (and I mean Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi) None of this sequel / prequel nonsense.
I'm happy others are so psyched to take part in opening night madness--- it's good for theaters, it's good for restaurants near the theaters, and of course it's good for the stores that will sell a bazillion dollars worth of merchandise. Go forth and enjoy your Star Wars experience!
But no.....you are not alone--- not by a long shot.
