Took the RAV4 to the adjuster/repair shop this week, and it came back as repairable! Repairs were estimated at $4k plus tax, so the total bill was $4200. Looks like the crazy COVID used car valuations just might save it! Work is scheduled to start in February (next available date).

Congrats on getting the outcome you wished for.
My 2012 Golf R was just repaired to the tune of $6000+. It was already a salvage title and I bought it for $13k. Original repair quote was $3k but after the bumper cover came off there was more damage to be seen. They originally wanted to total it.
I would have bought it back and put the $10k of goodies into another one.

So, my appointment at the shop was for 2/6, and I received the call last Thursday that it was all set to be picked up. I was nervously waiting by the phone while it was in the shop, as I was dreading the "we found some more damage and now it's totaled" call, but it thankfully never came. I would think we had to be on the ragged edge, with $4,200 of work to do.
The fuel filler door has not been working properly for years, the hinge was bent a while back and never opened/closed correctly after, despite my attempts to fix it. So, for a few years now, I've been propping up the fuel filler release arm on the floor of the car with a tennis ball wedged beneath the floor mat when I've been filling up the car. I had purchased a new OEM filler door from Toyota, but "never got around to doing it." After I had dropped off the car, I remembered I had the filler door and asked the body shop if I could pay to have them repaint it while it was in there (and they had the paint for the other side). They said sure, they would spray it at no cost. They actually went a step further and installed it, as well! I had the replacement fuel door spring at home, so for the first time in years the fuel filler door works as intended. I'm much more excited about that than I should be, but sometimes it's the little things that makes you smile!
I'll take some pictures when I have a chance, it was raining when I picked it up and I haven't gotten a chance to fully inspect everything. At first glance it looks very good, and I'm very thankful they could save it!
