I'm not really a Slayer fan (although I have seen them live), but I still feel... betrayed?

"Rumors that Volvo is currently developing a Meshuggah-themed XC90 R-Design remain unconfirmed."

Awesome!

Wow.

Not only has Tom Araya repented against all of his satanic-inspired lyrics, they now sell out like this?

Oh well, their last few albums have been seriously sub-par anyway.

My thoughts exactly.

I like Slayer MUCH more than I like tCs.

The exhaust will chug and the horn will randomly DRR NRRR NURRR as you're driving along.

It's funny that people still seem to think that Scion's customer base is young people. I would say they are one of the brands most likely to driven by a little old lady or her husband. The FR-S is an outlier. Other cars with a Scion badge must rank up there with Buick in terms of median age of their owners.

NINJA EDIT: Turns out Scions are bought by relatively young.IHS Automotive link. According to this Scion came in with the second youngest non-luxury make buyer's average age. I guess young people buy them and give them to their grandmas to drive.

Slayer has become more of a brand than a band. They axed Dave Lombardo over him wanting more (well deserved!) money, and they sell Slayer-branded everything now, from condoms to cars. Dave Lombardo recently stated that he believed that the band's management would even go as far as replacing the Kerry King and Tom Araya if it fit their needs and keep chugging along.

The band's music has been mediocre at best for a while now. Their last truly decent album (Seasons in the Abyss) came out more than 20 years ago. The metal world has moved on.

As far as Scion goes...

The Scion A/V division is strangely and unexpectedly cool. They have financed and released free EP's for some awesome Metal bands, such as Corrosion of Conformity and Pallbearer, and help sponsor tours. I went and saw Pallbearer (if you like Metal, check them out, awesome Doom) and they were giving away free Pallbearer vinyl with two live tracks on it. That's pretty damn cool.

Can I expect an Ozzy Osbourne VW Beetle soon? Or maybe a Metallica Lincoln Continental is more likely.

I'd rather have a Pantera-themed Pantera.
