I had thought that when I finally get replaced by a robot I could always go flip burgers if all else failed. Now I am not even qualified to do that.

Flipping burgers at McDonald's now requires a higher level of expertise.
Bosses at a franchise for the fast-food chain in Winchendon, Mass., are requiring new recruits to have a bachelor’s degree.
Those applying for the full-time cashier’s role must also have at least one year of experience in working the tills if they want get the job.
The salary isn't revealed, but a management position also listed starts at $10 per hour. A bonus is available if the applicant has previously worked at a McDonald's branch
Huh. Responsibility. For $10 an hour. Go figure.
I used to get that in 1980 to mow lawns using someone else's mower and gas. I hadn't even been to high school yet. If it wasn't for the short season I wouldn;t have had to shovel all that snow for the same money.

Well with all of the folks fresh out of college that can't find jobs that they went to school for, they shouldn't have trouble finding workers.
Next you'll need a CDL to deliver pizza

Organized crime is also a good choice. They need people who can crunch numbers and have nothing to lose.

+1.......I need to drain my keyboard now.
Think of how much you love McDonald's Burgers. That is a big responsibility, I am glad they are requiring a degree.

The boss/owner probably has kids that can't get a job because they have one of those college degrees that doesn't have a job that matches it.
"Sanskrit. You're majoring in a 5000 year-old dead language?"
Any bonuses for foreign language skills? Might want to consider transfer opportunities int he future to some of the exciting out-state posts.
looking at the current MickyD's employees here ... assuming they can get any applicants ...there will be wholesale layoffs .... there's not a one that meets those requirements ( maybe the 1 yr experience for the register) .. no college degrees here
According to Droz, you can major in Game Boy if you know how to bullE36 M3.
I am confused. The link says they don't require a degree?

Turns out you don’t need a college degree to work at this McDonald’s after all.
The owner of a fast-food franchise location in Winchendon, Mass., clarified that, despite a previous job posting, full-time cashier applicants do not need to have a bachelor’s degree.
"There has been some misinformation reported by an independent job site with no relationship to the Winchendon, Massachusetts McDonald’s," Lori Ruscito, the owner of the franchise location, told the Huffington Post. "The original job posting, which could be accessed through McState.com, did not require a bachelor’s degree.”

Around here, all they need is a face. Mirror fogging ability is a plus.

grade inflation causes devaluation of degrees, businesses decide you need a better degree. no surprises

You're taking all the fun out of this.
All the fast food joints around here will hire you if you can see lightning and hear thunder.
They really don't want educated people behind the counter or they won't be able to sell the grease soaked shredded carboard they call meat (or is it kangaroo tail?) in good conscience.
Of course that also means they don't want educated people on the other side of the counter either.
In other fast food worker related news....
