Up here for about 3-4 days, passing through Duluth on my way to Grand Marais. Gonna go see Enger Tower in a bit. Anything I have to see?

In reply to Robbie (Forum Supporter) :
There's a frontier reenactment camp just short of the Canadian boarder and renting a canoe on one of the boundary waters is a lot of fun.
I love Minnesota but I'm usually there in the dead of winter (October to June) but I brought my family with me on a business trip one summer and we did the above along with a bunch of other stuff closer to Minneapolis.

It is a beautiful time of year to be there!
Mosquitoes??? They've got some sort of horse fly thing this time of year that's so huge the FAA requires them to have N numbers.
I was once working in a hotel room that was next to a big pond and I noticed that it was getting dark too early...I turned away from my computer and looked out my sliding glass door to find that its screen was nearly covered with bugs. No B.S., the room got dark due to the level of bug coverage.
Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center in Duluth
It's a good bit out of your way, but the Soudan mine tour is cool.
I was there in January about 10 yrs ago; the -30 mornings were... interesting.. I stayed in a hotel right by the bridge, that area seemed like it would be fun in summertime.
Maybe see if Cirrus is doing factory tours if you're an av geek. They go together like 1:1 scale models
Since you've already crossed "see a lake" and "grow beard" off your list... uh, fish? Yell at Canada for no reason? When I travel I like to find a local music store and buy something difficult to carry on a plane.
Seeing Lake Superior is quite the site to see! Try to find a fishing charter to go and catch a big lake Trout! Then ya can tell us how clear the lake is. :0D
Also I just got back down from the Boundary waters went right through grang Maria's. Check out all the waterfalls along route 61.

Yes! Track in over south of Superior and I'm in Two Harbors.
Mr_Asa you will drive within a mile of my house actually!
Castle Danger brewery in town is good. No food but they regularly have a food truck come by or there is a few places that will deliver like Do North Pizza or Northshore. Plenty of state parks and scenic things to do all up the shore. No special events that I know of going on this weekend but there's almost always some type of event going on in Duluth or elsewhere.
I'm around this weekend if you'd like to stop by. I'll just be working on getting ready for Gridlife next weekend and the '61 Bel Air customer car.
The Aquarium in Duluth is good too.
If you're looking to kill a few hours driving slow/making overlook stops then Skyline Parkway is a fun drive.
Edit: Since you're already in GM then you could go up to the border and hike up to the Pigeon River water fall in Grand Portage or along the way that way Devil's Kettle is pretty neat.

I forgot about that...good catch.
Split Rock Lighthouse. https://www.mnhs.org/splitrock
Betty's Pies in Two Harbors. https://www.bettyspies.com
While in Two Harbors check out the #229 Mallett locomotive on display at the mining museum.
Detour from the North Shore up to the Hibbing / Tower / Virginia area to see the Mesabi Range iron ore mines. https://hibbingmineview.org and https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/lake_vermilion_soudan/tours.html
Split rock light house is great.
In Duluth we like to do hiking and biking. Plenty of thst around. The aquarium is kinda lame. You can tour the one iron ore boat museum. That's kinda cool.
at Sarah's table Chester creek cafe is a good place for breakfast. They make a stout beer syrup for panczkces thst is amazing.
Go to bent paddle.
go agate hunting at one of the many agate beaches.
Family stuff got in the way of a lot of what we wanted to do, there was supposed to be only one family event (an important one) but it kinda snow-balled as so many people weren't gonna be around together again.
As for the rest, even if I don't get to see everything I want to, I'm always happy to get up there. Good lord I love that place.
I need to rebalance the colors on some of these. Still learning Darktable
