Vt. man accused of crushing cop cars after pot bust
Sheriff officers walk past crushed cruisers at the Orleans County Sheriff's Department in Newport, Vt., Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012. Authorities say 34-year old Vermont farmer Roger Pion, angry over a recent arrest last month on charges of resisting arrest and marijuana possession, used a large tractor like a monster truck, destroying seven police cruisers.
NEWPORT, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont man, who authorities say was angry over an arrest and used his tractor to drive over seven police vehicles, is expected in court.
State Police say 34-year-old Roger Pion (PEE'-on) was taken into custody in Newport on Thursday, shortly after he allegedly crushed the Orleans County sheriff's vehicles. Estimated damage was at least $250,000.
He was apparently mad over his recent arrest on resisting arrest and marijuana possession charges.
Sheriff's deputies working inside their building didn't know what was happening until a neighbor called 911. They didn't hear the ruckus outside because their air conditioners were humming. They said they couldn't pursue the man because their cars were crushed.
Pion faces numerous charges. He's expected to appear in court Friday. Authorities didn't know if he had a lawyer.

It's got everything but the donut joke.
I thought it was Bigfoot of Howard Stern fame. He does live in Newport,VT.
A police car costs $35k? Ouch.
They probably used the same math they use when they report a drug bust.
Don't get angry, get even.
Or just get angry AND even.

Sure, if they're talking about brand new fully loaded police cars with all the radios and everything in it. Of course, they're not taking into account any type of depreciation, and why should they? They're about to hang this dude by his toenails and squeeze every penny out of him so they can buy new Chargers or SHO Interceptors. LOL

The cruisers are cheap, it's the police equipment that's expensive. Laptops, wifi, plate scanners, radios, guns and racks, lights, sirens, etc. Why do you think they reuse all of that stuff every time they replace the cruiser?
Yeah, the car itself is probably half or less of that value. Those light bars and stuff are expensive.

On the bright side - folks in VT will see a bunch of salvaged P71 drivetrains for sale soon.
Seems logical to me. Don't get mad, get even.
best line ever: they couldn't pursue the man because their cars were crushed.
He was mellow until the cops took his weed.
Did all of the officers walk to work? Why couldn't they follow in their personal vehicles?

He just crushed their patrol cars. Pretty sure the PD couldn't pay me enough to "follow in my personal vehicle." Now if their was a public works dump truck available, that would have been a chase for the ages. . .
I can see several individuals from the area I live doing something similar to this even without the weed involvement .
Ever crush a car?
Ever crush a car-on weed?!?!

I'm pretty sure their union would jump all over them for that.
I've got a feeling that this isn't going to help his case.
I think Northern Vermont is the new Florida. Some weird stuff happens north of Montpelier

I live in N. Central FL and some of the most Southern places I have ever experienced have been many 100's of miles north.
