Typical news media, recycling stuff we already knew Rally drivers have alwasy been crazy
Also, there's no way I would ever dare going through that corner that quickly.

So you're saying the liberal media is the problem?
and yes, the speed into and through that corner was more than my poor brain could understand. It was cartoon like. I'm used to seeing speed like that with dedicated sports cars on smooth racing tracks, etc. A rally car? On a semi-paved/gravel road? Even the Group B cars would have lifted there.
Oh good I thought this was the result of an actual scientific study and that the rest of us would be studied next...

Drop the inside front wheel off of the lip of the road.. grabs the front of the car and pulls it through the corner. Watch how he does it
He was probably thinking "lost too much time, could have gone faster, left a meter or two at the exit"
It still would have been possible without ditch-hooking, but he would have had to use a lot more of the road. I bet that was his backup plan if he missed the curb.

Maybe he is delivering tofu...

I'm imagining the navigator trying to hold a cup of water still while trying to read rally notes....
Crazy Leo (plug for a friend) has recently started his WRC career and is upping his youtube channel/profile so that it contains more content and will have weekly releases. I'm not sure if this week's is out yet, but i know that he's going to be breaking down 10 recent "incidents" from WRC events.

Last weekend when I was driving home from Summit's Akron location, I slid around the turn to the I-76W under power, and thought I was getting a little close to the curb... and then my inside front dropped ONTO the curb.
One of my neighbors was playing rally driver last week in front of my house. Overcooked the corner in his Ford Explorer, spun backwards, tagged the bridge guard rail which flipped him and dropped 20' landing upside down in the creek. He managed to crawl out with just some scrapes, probably from crawling out. Heard to say "I thought I was done doin' stupid stuff...."
Awesome. I got to be a pretend rally driver every morning when I'd get home from night shift and we were staying with my in laws for a few months. I'd get home at 6am , they lived on a dirt road with no traffic :) I did as good a Scandinavian flick as I'd ever dared and scared the crap out of myself hahah. I stopped after that
I broke the front crossmember of a Hyundai Excel on the jersey jump doing a similar maneuver. To be 18 again and trying to mimic stuff you read about...

The mere mention of "morning commute" sends shivers down my spine. I'm beginning to think that semi drivers pass through intersections at 3 mph just to spite everyone behind them.

yea but they would have been coming at the corner a lot faster

By all accounts the Bs handled like poo because the focus was on making the car lightweight and also powerful.
