The other day on I-275 here in MI a driver of a Ford Focus cut a truck driver off in a traffic jam. The trucker says he had to slam on the brakes quite hard to avoid hitting the Focus. So, he called around on his CB and found 3 other truck drivers to help out. They boxed the guy in and kept it this way for 90 minutes!!
Even though truck drivers get on my nerves almost as much as old people doing 60 in the left lane, I applaud this guy. I'm sure the Focus driver will think twice before he does it again. Now if it were me in the Focus, I'd have just stopped my car.

Its a dick move for sure, but in the same shoes, I would have done the same......as long as it wasn't impeading traffic.
Pay back in traffic is stupid, just get on with life, everybody makes mistakes, if I chased down every person who wronged me I would never get to my destination.
I think truck driver's now suck balls in general.
They have pushed me onto the berm so many times, because I happened to be passing them in the overtaking lane. This is because they came across a vehicle on the on ramp, the on-ramp vehicle is obliged to merge. berkeleying idiot truckers think they are obliged to make room for the vehicle on the on-ramp. You do not have to move over if someone is already directly beside you doing the legal speed limit.
Truck drivers in general suck since the factory workers lost their jobs and became 21 day experts.
I drive 1500 commercial miles a week so I get to comment as a fellow professional driver.
Fact is I never get these problems from a car in traffic, the truck drivers are the problem these days, I speak in general of course.
OMG cut them off in a traffic jam! The nerve! Let's use our 80000lb vehicle as a tool of asshattery and trap this guy in retaliation for 90minutes. That's a appropriate response to what the focus driver did.
Wonder what will happen if this goes viral since it probably would not be hard for unite and cocacola to figure out which drivers of theirs took part in this sending a wonderful image of their company.
More interesting to me...did Dave and Chuck move to Rif?
I can pull in 89x here but not 101.1.
I have heard the new, lame excuse for a morning show on 89x but did not know why.
When I was in Detroit/Toledo, I used to listed to Drew and Mike often. Did they finally retire or just piss off management enough?
Dave and Chuck left 89X in December and replaced Drew and Mike a couple of weeks ago. Do not know where they have gone (if any where) Trudi Daniels who was on the show with them is now on 94.7 in the AM.

Drew and Mike got the axe. Kinda. "The contract was not renewed". Personally, I'm sad to see D&M leave, but they had grown long in the tooth. Dave and Chuck the moron seem to be trying waaaaay to hard to me. Forced.
I think the move these truckers pulled is funny, but if I were in the car I'd feel differently I'm sure. 90 minutes is a bit much.
I said I applaud this guy, but what I really mean is it's funny to me. I think this is rather indicative of truck drivers for sure. What I hate the most is how there'll be a truck doing 58 mph in the right lane and another truck goes to pass him, at 59 mph. I-75 goes down to a 1-lane highway for the next few miles. To me, that's as bad as the db in the Focus.
This driver was on WRIF this morning talking about this incident and other truckers called in and they were all talking about how us "four-wheelers" don't get it. These guys bring us our goods, without truckers the country would die. So, that gives you the right to drive like a DB, just like the Focus driver?
Looking at the traffic in front of them, doesn't seem the 'box-in' really had an effect on his commute time.
One day long ago on I-10 some truckers did this to me on the way home from work. Thankfully the guy I carpooled with carried a Tec-9 in his backpack. One simple wave of the Tec-9 out of the window made the truckers rethink their plan

Yeah, cutting off a truck is pretty much a bone-headed move. Yeah, I get all that junk about how they pay all the road taxes and the highway is their office, and the interstate belongs to them and four-wheelers just need to stay the heck out of their way.
Here's my question, though: These four "professionals" are pushing around 40-50 tons of steel that possess a lot of momentum and require a lot of energy to stop and start. They are in a pretty tightly packed traffic jam and their goal is to, essentially, combine forces to out-maneuver a vehicle that has considerably more agility. This means that they've got to carefully coordinate their movements in traffic, especially as it pertains to the other cars on the road that haven't incurred their wrath (yet), so that the four-wheeler doesn't have a chance to just dart out in front of one of the trucks on the side. If they're focused so heavily on that maneuvering, how much attentiveness do they have left to ensure that they stay in their lane and maintain a safe following distance?
I guess I just don't have much love for jackassery on the highways... I'd like to just get myself home in one piece, not have to visit the body man, and if I manage to do something stupid, I'm sorry, it's not intentional, you can call me a moron under your breath, and I'll show you the same courtesy.
For the record, though, I used to drive the highways a lot more than I do now, and I was always listening in on the CB traffic. For all the whining that the professionals all seemed to do about cars following them too closely and not yielding the left lane, I see an awful lot of big trucks parked right off my bumper in the right lane doing 60 in a 55 and the 59mph truck taking eighty miles to pass the 58.75mph truck...
They are debating in MI weather or not to allow trucks to travel at the same speed as cars. I think they should, but hold them to the right 2 lanes.
90 minutes? What if he missed his destination? Or ran out of gas? That seems a little excessive to me.
Total dick move. I hope every one of them gets a ticket. My BIL is a truck driver, has been for 25 years now, I admire and respect what they have to do, but that is stupid. I was almost an orphan in the late 70's as a dick truck driver ran the car my father was a passenger in off the road in Scotland and down an embankment. He was in hospital for a couple of weeks then recuperating at home for weeks after that. You don't berkeley around when your piloting some that size.
I'll join the consensus. If this isn't totally fake, it's a jackass move by "professional" truck drivers.
For the "fakeness"...I drove that exact Coke truck for years. I assure you that cab has no CB radio to "coordinate" with other truckers. Looks like the Detroit traffic that I remember.
The picture could also imply that what looks like to be a Ford Explorer and a couple other vehicles in from of them are the real reason for the slow down.
Damn those Ford Explorer drivers! The Outrage!
If I was in the Focus I would have just parked. I doubt all those truckers would have parked along side of him on the freeway. And if they did, they would be getting the ticket for impeding traffic because i would have just told the cops that the rigs boxed me in and parked.
Sometimes payback goes the other way for "professional" drivers-

Don't think his bitching at the lane splitter saved him any time on his deliveries

I'd say those two would have plausible deniability. If it's not faked of course. Traffic wasn't moving much in front of any of them from the looks of it.
Also, lanes move a different rates. So the truck on the right and the left of the focus were both holding up traffic as well? All because some trucker felt like his tiny dong was slighted?
Sheesh.
Joey
Traffic brings out the worst in (almost) everybody.
Suspect the story is a fake. If not, I certainly couldn't condone "terrorism by truck."
Having over a million miles in commercial trucks, I have seen the worst our highways have to offer and it is very rare that it is the truck driver. If you could see through my eyes.....

I have more miles in cars/vans/trucks/police cars and offer the complete opposite to what you say.
I am being clear to say, it is very common, but not all truck drivers are such morons.. However the ones that are are in an 80,000 lb battering ram.

One of the over the road truckers I used to know was also the treasurer of a very well known national biker "club". He was a criminal, a badass and was frequently high on crank as he flew down the road. I"m very glad he wasn't the one your buddy did this to.
Don't mess with truckers....they are working, and you never know who is behind the wheel. There is a good chance you'll be outgunned.
