Effin Canadians and your weird ass bacon.....
MrJoshua wrote: In reply to Flight Service: we must be talking about different threads. The one I'm referencing was a "look at this cool video of someone doing streetracerish stuff". Board members criticised the public roadways thing and the video creator came in angry. Went downhill fast.
Yeah we are talking about different threads. This one was a Newb posted about mods he wanted to do, if I remember, to a Corolla.
I case anyone woundered, the Go3Wheeler guy online activity went dead about the same time he was booted from here.
It sorta makes me laugh and sad at the same time. Great intentions and enthusiasm ruined by pig-headness.
You do know that Americans are the only ones who call it "Canadian bacon"
We have normal bacon here, if you go to a supermarket and ask for "bacon", you'll get a package of fatty pig, sliced into strips, salted and smoked.
If you ask for "Canadian bacon" or, as we call it "back bacon" you get ham.
We call ham "ham"
Hardly anyone uses the term "Canadian bacon" or "back bacon".
Weirdos...
You guys need to learn how to make cheese properly. That waxy yellow stuff labelled "sharp cheddar" is a joke. Yes, I've had Tillamook cheese, it was "meh" at best.

I think we all started out trying to help him out but once he became combative and wouldn't listen to anyone, he got the boot.

Exactly.

So you're just making sure you direct the credit to a specific jackass?

Those geese are terrible. But you know what's really.funny? Daring one of.your drunk idiot buddies to.catch one o them mean ass sumbitches.
Glad you decided to stick around Conesare2seconds!
I do think that this forum has one of the best signal to noise ratios for forums on the internet. We do get carried away with political banter, and some of us can be too sensitive about being offered an option C, but we really pull together as a community when it really counts. Whether a member is in need of advice or parts, when grieving the loss of a loved one or going through a tough time, and we even rejoice in the unicorns found by other members and adventures shared as a big goofy extended family. At least, it seems that way to me.
That being said, this is your community. If you think a thread is getting out of line or mod action is needed, please let us know! Post in the canoes thread or PM me or any mod. Since I am back at work full time, I really don't get on here as much as I used to, so if a thread is getting snarky please shoot me a PM. I check my email at least once a day If I have been part of the problem, let me know that too. I have my off days, I admit.
I know it's been mentioned before, but I think a separate political sub forum would be a good idea, off topic can just get helter skelter sometimes and it should not be so heavy in there.

that and bull sperm …. that thread really opened my eyes about this forum

If we wanted a cool hotlinking thread we could of just started one. We chose the disrespectful route and repurposed the OP platform to spite them.OP is still here. It's ok. That thread is REALLY old and 90% of the people posting in there have no idea how it even started. If it offends you that badly, i'm sure one of the mods might consider changing the title.
he had his opinion and we disagreed with him … and we went out of our way to show him we disagreed with him …
if I express an opinion and 90+% of y'all actively disagree with me … maybe I needed to re-look at my opinion … if I still hold that opinion, and y'all make me so PO'ed that I leave … oh well
In reply to wbjones:
Yeah, I didn't leave because you and 99% of the other people here are clearly wrong about what constitutes a hatchback

don't remember who he was, but there was someone who really laid into Dollraves and then started threatening any and everyone that said anything to him (I got one of those emails) … he was escorted off the premises

I remember the tricycle guy, though, if it's the one i'm thinking of (the deathtrap with the frame clearly not designed by an engineer? That one?). I've taken breaks from this forum and others. It almost never has to do with the forums themselves, but the waxing and waning of my particular interests over time and also how busy I am. I always return to GRM and a couple other forums. I like it here. I felt welcomed even though I didn't show up with an LSx swapped anything. I showed up with a 1987 E-150 with curtains and brown stripes. Hell, i still haven't built anything car related, and I still have that van.
does it come with free candy ?

Sure people can get a bit testy, but for the most part, I don't know of a better behaved group of people on the internet. Seriously, even the climate thread is not that contentious, but it sure could be given the passion around that subject. Where else are you going find people that love Chevettes, Jeeps, P71's, BMWs and Miatas all in the same place...and all in agreement they need an LS swap?
which shows that we, as a group have, sorta learned our lesson … if we get to hyped up, the thread will get locked pretty quickly …sometimes we forget

That one just stuck out as a particularly good example of us being rude to a newbie.Flight Service wrote: I get trolly, especially with inaccuracy, but I try not be. I have noticed a change in tone as well. I remember one kid that everyone dog piled on because he wanted to street race something. Some were kind, many were not.We didn't want associated with the negative image if anything had happened. Strangely, that was one of the few times the board was nearly unanimous in its view. We're all different, all have different experiences, different views, but for the most part we can tolerate or actually get along with one another.
I remember him/that thread … but don't remember the question(s) he might have had …
just remember he wanted to street race, and I'm betting that I'm not the only one that read his post that way …
yeah, we all pretty much jumped in his E36 M3 about the street racing, but for a variety of reasons … mostly centered on the safety aspect, regardless whether we'd done it ourselves or not … seems I remember most of us admitted to having street raced, but "grew up" … and tried to let him know that he might consider taking a short cut to maturity by listening to us (that didn't go over so well) and the other big bashing point was that the forum members didn't want the GRM board to be associated with a street racer and all the "liability" that might entail
