I have to admit, I've been party to about a dozen new car sales and about two dozen used car sales from dealers. I've never been ignored, or had my financial background questioned - even when I had shaggy hair, dirty clothes, or was a freshman in college. I've had LOTS of test drives with only giving the salesman a driver's license, and very few with a salesman on board. I've even had salesmen spend time answering questions even when I made it clear that I had no intention of buying, could not afford to buy, and was just there to get warranty work done on my truck.

When it comes to negotiating price though...ugh.

My only experience with a Toyota dealership was with the service department. I blew out the clutch master cylinder on my '86 MR2 in the mountains headed out of Denver in stop and go traffic on a 4th of July weekend a few years back.

I made the local news as the newslady who was interviewing all of us poor stuck bastards (we were lining the highway, I did manage to limp it into a parking area) couldn't grasp the motor in back part.

Got it to the dealership, the service manager goes "Hey! The first car I worked on when I started here as a tech was one of those!" Could have gotten a better deal if it wasn't a holiday weekend, or done it cheaper myself if I wasn't hundreds of miles away form my tools. Still, it went well enough.

Toyota makes basically nothing I"m interested in driving at this point, so there's not likely to be any other Toyota dealer experiences anytime soon.
