Hello,
Vehicle model & and year : 2019 Chevy Express van 4500 cutaway
I had to change the ECM so got a new ECM and programmed the calibrations needed with the MDI2 on TIS2WEB.
But the problem is that after the programming I have "P0630 - Vin not programmed or Mismatch -engine control module (ECM)" when I do DTC check.
Everything seems to be programmed but not the VIN number.
When I connect to GDS2 normally it has to read the VIN number automatically but I have to enter the VIN number to be able to continue.
How should I do to program the VIN number on my new ECM please.
EFI Live has the ability to write the VIN. HP Tuners can as well but it is much more restrictive. EFI Live does not care what digits you put in the VIN slot.
Otherwise there used to be some sort of key dance method where you put the ECU in learn mode and it can learn the VIN from the BCM. Thats a sequence of key twists.
Last time I did one you were able to do it with the "Scan" version so no need to license a PCM. If you have a shop that specializes in Duramax and Cummins tuning they may have a copy of EFI live you can use, pay them for an hour of shop time or show up with a case of beer on a Friday and see what you can get figured out.
Do GM's of the modern era (2019 model) still require the use of the proprietary GM Scan II device? My guess is they do.
New GM global platform won't allow the use of used modules, at least from what I've read. I would presume with something that new, a dealership is going to be involved for programming.
