Light smoke but no damage at a hookah bar. Imagine that.

Can anyone explain the point of hookah to me? Please?

Like... in what sense? It's a water pipe. You smoke stuff in it. I've tried it before with just flavored tobacco, and it's actually fairly nice.

Because the smoke gets filtered through water, it cools it down substantially. I've heard people say that the water also absorbs a lot of the more harmful tar and ash from the smoke.

It has the same point as smoking other tobacco like cigars or pipes...it is enjoyable.

Another advantage of cold smoke (from a hookah) is that it doesn't really stick anywhere after you blow it out. Cigarettes, cigars, and pipes leave a noticeable stench on and around people who smoke them, not so with hookah.

I've tried it, I just don't understand it. From what I've seen, its just paying to socialize while putting something flavorful in your mouth.... Hmmm.... Why not go out and eat with friends? Or chew gum around a table? I didn't get any buzz (which I do get if I smoke a cigarette) or high or anything except for a lighter wallet.

So... are you wondering about the point of a hookah bar or a hookah pipe?

I guess the point of going to a Hookah bar is that you want to try smoking a hookah, but you don't feel like spending the money on your own pipe. Not my thing, but I can understand it.

I'd still rather go to a local microbrewery though.

I didn'tknow what it was until recently. My first week on the lower east side of Manhattan I had a few foreign tourists approach me looking for "hooka baa". i thought they were looking for a different type of recreation, and told them I didn't know. This happened three times that week, even though I'm wearing a gold badge and a walkie talkie. I was begining to wonder how bright some of these tourists were. I told my supervisor who had come by to check on me. He pointed to the large light up sign behind me that read "HOOKAH BAR" and mumbled something about my parents relationship.

Hookah is delicious and social. Its like smoking a cigar with friends only its much less mobile. Its relaxing and a nice way to pass an hour or so with friends. Its also the best way I've found to blow smoke rings, which impresses the ladies

Hookah bars are trying to catch on around here. I doubt they will be any more successful than the cigar bars or oxygen bars were.

being that i have seen multiple hookah bars and have yet to see a cigar or oxygen bar... id say they are already more successful then your benchmark.

I went to one, couldnt hardly breathe the next day.

You know I had forgotten the whole its 420 the other day until a massive cloud of pot smoke drifted on the wind into my backyard while I was out grilling. Yep college town in Oregon...

Hookahs? It tastes good and it's relaxing. I don't really get a buzz either, but it's mostly a taste thing.

And I did not celebrate 4-20. Know plenty of people who did though.
