Holy E36 M3, Blackie Lawless is still alive! I did not see that coming.
Worst sting I ever had was a bald face hornet right at the base of my skull. It felt like someone hit me on the back of the head with a ball pean hammer

I got stung about five times when I was a kid, I was climbing in an old barn and didn't see the nest. We have wasp nests on the outside of the shop, in a few of the project cars parked outside, and even in some of the wheels stacked outside the shop. We have an agreement. I don't bother them, and they don't bother me. The only time I've been stung was when I accidentally disturbed their nest- when I was 10' up on a ladder. It's not out of the ordinary for me to work outside the shop and have them flying all around.
Just understand that wasps and bees have seasonal temperaments. Early on, they are gentle. Come the end of summer and cool days, they become aggressive.
Right now is still great for doing erradication work with minimal risk. The nest are still small, the queen is not aggressive and generally neither are the workers. Spray the nest and you're done. Take a few minutes with a can of spray and walk your place, looking for the nests. It's a little late right now, but not nearly what it will be like in a few more weeks.
