"Weird Al" Yankovic
Jon Lajoie is pretty funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulIOrQasR18 NSFW though.
Same with Steel Panther http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBcX9plkfpU Also NSFW

Yup. The first movie had John Lee. Hooker's Boom Boom. The second movie had Dr. John's Season of the Witch.
'nuff said.
OK, I have wasted the last hour on YouTube with Corky and the Juice Pigs. Thanks for that, I will get to the rest of these great suggestions very soon. Lonley Island is another perfect example.

The song "The Rize of the Fenix" is an absolutely awesome rock song. It's hilarious, but it's great rock music. Grohl absolutely CRUSHES on it.
The D is so metal it's preposterous, though.
I still have to check out their jazz "project". I heard it's pretty far off the reservation.

Surprised it took that long. Practically anything from the 70's is quality music, with a wicked sense of humor, and lot's of satire.
Look up the lyrics for my username, or any other song from that album, or era.
You might want to have a look at the shuffle demons. Great jazz players with somewhat eccentric lyrics, and music.
At very least, you should check out The look people

The amazing thing about Spike Jones is that it was done live. Awesome talent.
The Shuffle Demons are an interesting group. They started as street musicians just jamming, and that never really left. There's some humor in some of their songs (I can probably sing all of Spadina Bus and Roach from memory) but also some serious chops. For funny, I like Cheese on Bread and Blue Mustard. For real music, Big Daddy Fat Boy (I used to play a lot of bari sax) and Sometimes You Feel Like That. They actually turned me on to Thelonious Monk, of all things. I've got all of their albums and have seen them live a bunch of times.

+2. And a lot of it is surprisingly well done, musically.
GWAR is pretty funny as well.
Asylum Street Spankers
Here Come the Mummies
Not so much comedy in nature, but just entertaining because its different in a way which makes it funny
Handsome Dick Manitoba and the Dictators were an excellent punk band with a sense of humor. Some of their lyrics are priceless. "Who Will Save Rock & Roll" and "The Next Big Thing" are two favorites of mine. Also "Master Race Rock."
Spinal Tap--The band members are portrayed by Michael McKean (as leat singer David St. Hubbins), Christopher Guest (as lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel) and Harry Shearer (as bassist Derek Smalls). The movie (a mockumentary) is great...
The "band" actually made several albums and even did a tour...all from a "band" created for a movie. Pretty telling of the talents of the actors.
"Big Bottom" is my favorite track; aside from the lyrics, they all play bass, which I find hysterical.
"The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin' That's what I said The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand Or so I have read
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo
Big bottom, big bottom Talk about bum cakes, my girl's got 'em Big bottom drive me out of my mind How could I leave this behind?
I met her on Monday, 'twas my lucky bun day You know what I mean I love her each weekday, each velvety cheek day You know what I mean
My love gun's loaded and she's in my sights Big game is waiting there inside her tights, yeah
Big bottom, big bottom Talk about mud flaps, my girl's got 'em Big bottom drive me out of my mind How could I leave this behind?
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo

Axis of Awesome is good, Not 100% sure they have an album- but they're damn good from what i've seen on Youtube.

About time someone mentioned Spinal Tap! I can't believe it took you folks so long..........Clearly the winner by a long shot! The movie is a must-see for everyone with eyes or ears.
steel panther
dead milkmen
skid roper and mojo nixon
removed the gourds and hayseed dixie because they're not comedy. perhaps the dead milkmen aren't either
I'll second Tom Lehrer.
And for those favoring country, give Homer and Jethro a listen.
Doyle & Debbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Their album is a work of genius.
Yes Dr. Demento is what led me into rock as an impressionable youth, and I feel the weirdness of much of the music he played sparked my admiration of Progressive Rock, and really just about any kind weird music.
In reply to petegossett:
I thought this was a lot funnier 20 years ago.
