After over 2 years of ailment, resulting surgeries, infections and issues affecting my capacities and ability to drive I've been restricted by my neurologist from driving due to tremors, violent at times, and sudden onset of double vision that started to occur starting late last week. Good news is that it's not stemming from a reoccurance. I've already emailed IMSA, NASA, SCCA and PCA suspending my licenses with them.
I'd say that I'm bummed, but I haven't been physically capable of driving in any sort of spirited, let alone competitive level, in over 2 years. It's more of a nagging pain in the butt at this point and curious as to how long the restriction will remain.
All the best to you!
Tough news.

I'd say the good news far outweighs the bad news, in this case, as annoying as the bad news is. best of luck to you, man.
Man that bites. Hopefully only temporary though!
In reply to JohnRW1621:
It's not the worst news possible as it's not a reoccurance. It's just a pain to deal with.
In reply to Duke:
Especially with how dicey things have seemed this week. If it had been bad news I would've just been along for the ride without any recourse or ability to act. I'm more relieved than anything else. Though I am wishing that I was able to get myself to the pool.
Best of luck captain. I know how it is when your vision goes wonky...

That sucks dude.
On a serious note: Thank you. You recognize this and accept it like a responsible adult.
I have a family member that will not relinquish his driving priveledge. He has zero business behind the wheel of a car. Many have told him so. He's even been reported to the state (VA) and had to undergo an 'evaluation' by the state which was a complete sham. He still has his license and it drives me nuts.
I hope this is only temporary, too.
Here's to hoping it's only temporary! Kinda sucks in the mean time. Pulling for you.
You're coping like a boss Captain, all this has been more than most of us could take. You're a trooper!

Hoping this is just temporary setback and that you'll be back in action soon!
Today I downshifted several times in your honor sir.
I'm hoping to get some answers and a possible diagnosis today or tomorrow. They've all but ruled out a stroke from having occurred Thursday morning (my face dropped on the left side, I had a partial paralysis of my left leg and left arm was heavy and unable to move for a few hours, but that wouldn't explain the tremors in the right hand and arm. They're calling it a TIA for now and having me take 325mg of aspirin a day with weekly blood work on the liver now). My primary is pretty sure of what it is, I'll wait until there's an official diagnosis. Driving will be touch and go at times if she's correct.
So sorry to hear that. Hope that it's figured out and solved soon.
it's a bummer, but I'm still pullin for ya.
I brought the wrong vehicle to hoon in today. I promise there will be some 3rd gear wheel spin tomorrow in your honor
Capt. Can you do instruction at the track a keen mind in the right seat with your skills would be appreciated.
In reply to wearymicrobe:
It's conceivable if I were to get a ride to the track. That being said when a seizure rolls in, it's rare that I'm able to talk during it and it would be quite unnerving to the poor student.
Yesterday I only had a pair of minor localized ones, both in the right arm, and today I've been tremor and seizure free. Thursday and Friday were rough. There was a point on Friday when in my primary's office to review some upcoming test that I wasn't sure that they'd get me downstairs to the ER in time to get me stabilized if need be. It was the first time I lost vision during an attack and my eyes stayed open, just rolled back. Not being able to communicate during it is the worst. I can hear everything, unless the sound of an arm or leg hitting something is muffling something being said, but response, even a hand squeeze or blink isn't happening. Getting a ride over to the pool (thank god for the piece of mind that lifeguards provide) on Saturday seems to have made a positive difference.
Thoughts and prayers coming your way.
sorry to hear about the issue you are having. hope things get worked out that you can at least be somewhat normal even if you can not drive again. there are things you could do to help out the local racing groups thouugh.
