I searched but only found a thread from 2010.
Currently have 220-odd pictures on an Imageshack free account. Imageshack is killing the free accounts, but I have a free 6-month subscription.
Looking for the most-likely-long-term best free image hosting service. Is Flikr still good? I have the Flikr app on my phone thanks to my wife's account there. Tumblr? Google+? Something else?
I want to be able to link and avoid Facebook. I am on FB but I don't really want to make that my real image host.
Thanks!
[edit] Bonus points if it can automagically transfer all my Imageshack files to the new service.
I've been using Photobucket forever.
I still use photobucket. Been having some wonky issues that would lock up my computer lately so I got a flikr account. Not a fan of it at all. I tried photobucket again last night and everything worked fine so I'm back to that. I will keep my flikr account as a backup in case PB acts up again and I absolutely have to post a picture.
I use photobucket. It isn't ideal, but it works.
tumblr for stuff I don't mind public
I use flickr.com which is pretty decent despite the parent companies attempts to trash the product.

Imgur for the one-and-done stuff. I'm not sure if they offer long term hosting
I use Photobucket, but I've run out of bandwidth a couple of times already. Since they are making money from me on their ads, I refuse to pay them for the same amount of ads and more bandwidth. Also their site redesigns haven't been great lately, poorly done code on their pages causes a lot of thrashing and piss poor load times.
So I also back everything up to Picassa/Google Photos. Need to figure out how to share photos from there so I can move away from Photobucket.

Near as I can tell with Google Photos, the Share button only puts it on your Google+ page, so all 8 of the people who use Google+ can see it. However, you can right-click and copy the URL for a direct link.
Thanks for the input.
Photobucket. Not happy with the redesigns either, but it is still the easiest for sharing photos online. I use the iPhone App a lot as well.
photobucket and snapfish for me. Been using one or both for over ten years.
I keep all my stuff synced with Picasa through my Google+ account. I also have an old Photbucket account that has a little higher bandwidth for sharing pictures on high traffic sites like ebay.

I use smugmug to host my photography, and a bare-bones Apache web server running on a Linux VM at RackSpace for "reference" images (cell phone shots of car parts and the like). Neither of them is free, but nor are they terribly expensive (smugug is $60/year for unlimited storage, IIRC).

imgur crossed my mind, too, but like tumblr, it seems like that has more of a bloggy feel to it. Thanks for the input, all!
I use photo bucket but am looking at switching to Google photos or whatever its called. I'd have done it already if not for having to update the links on almost 100 pictures on build threads.

this has been the only one I've been able to make halfway work … photobucket and flicker both sucked at least for this luddite

Another vote for smugmug. Have been with them for over 10 years. I think I have around 100GB stored, and have never had issues with storage or bandwidth. Uploading is easy either on my laptop or their Android app.
