Got turned onto these NPR mini concerts the other day from a Reddit post. Wound up at this one today.. Holy F*CK can this chick play some guitar. The last song, "Blackbird" is chill inducing.
Sorry, no clickey Link.
Old school CD player has had Warren Zevon's "Genius" CD in it all weekend.
If you are a fan at all, look up his last appearance on Letterman on youtube.
How could anyone be so calm and cool knowing they had terminal cancer?

Opposite view point, what is the benefit in getting all worked up if you know how you're going out and there's nothing you can do about it?

Good point, and I have thought about that as well.
He is just so calm and accepting, like it's a parking ticket.
I would like to think that I would make the most of what I had left.
I saw one interview with him where he said, and I'm paraphrasing here, "Everyone is so much more upset about my upcoming demise than I am.
I've been a fan for a long time, and have always thought he was much underappreciated.
In reply to SaltyDog :
Enjoy every sandwich! Agree that he was very under appreciated.
I think the fact that he was writing and recording to the end shows that he was making the most of what he had left. I think he realized that he was a poet who would not be appreciated during his lifetime and tried to continue moving his works forward for future appreciation by both critics and the general public. My best words will never have an impact like Zevon's worst song...
I am not a morbid person but I tease my wife that at my funeral I want her to place this song or that. The new IPhone OS completely screwed up my playlists so while fixing all that, I decided to make a "Funeral Music" playlist. OMG, it is an emotional rollercoaster picking out songs to play at your own funeral. Try it, see for yourself. In my case, what I came up with is: Without You, Spirit in the Sky, Songbird, Home Sweet Home, On Days Like These, Life By The Drop, My Love My Life, Pink Moon, November Rain.

So it would appear that he didn't need the lawyers, guns, OR the money, once the E36 M3 had hit the fan.
Listening:
80 minutes' worth of raw, unedited sample riffs from the early construction of the Master of Puppets album, which is unquestionably the best music album ever made. Listen before it gets deleted by Youtube.

I don't even WANT a funeral, I think they're a waste of time. But if there is one, there are four pieces of music I would want played.
Metallica's Orion
Metallica's Call of Ktulu
Overkill's Years Of Decay

Liquor slicked highway GG allin
Found my "U2's Greatest Hits" CD stashed in Kazoo Jr's room. Man, there's a lot of good stuff on that one.
