Strange Holler. The bluegrass band my wife plays bass in. I'm doing sound.
I saw a FB post recently that sent me down a rabbit hole.
When I was a kid the Midnight special was a huge deal in our house. Everybody looked forward to Friday night. My Parents would let us stay up late, we'd all sit in front of the TV wondering who would be on, and we'd watch it to the end, for better or worse. Some nights my Parents would order a pizza, and Dad somehow tapped into the TV or the cable feed and taped every show on his reel to reel tape deck, something I don't think was common in 1973.
Anyway, my eleven year old hormones were pretty excited after seeing this, and things like this every week. Amazing how a live performance can make an otherwise fairly ordinary song so good. I remember Dad taped an Allman brothers performance that was incredible, the songs not coming out til almost a year later. I wish I could see that show again.
Thanks to Amazon Music pointing out they had a newer song out, I'm on a kick of listening through Infected Mushroom's library (again). Back when we were trying to finish up the cabin and I spent a lot of evenings making the hour-each-way drive running back and forth to the cabin to get things done, I had a playlist of Infected Mushroom and KMFDM songs to drive to... it's something of a miracle I never got any speeding tickets on those drives.
Found pay for service YouTube Music channel of 85-95 hip hop. Reminds me of the 85-95s. Pretty awesome.
The History of Rock and Roll in 100 songs podcast. Fascinating to learn about the the backstories and forgotten pieces of rock history mainly starting with the 1930s and working to the present. You want to binge? This is way bingeable.
