Louis and Ella: Summertime

I think both were at their best in the fifties. Both have absolute perfect musical pitch in their vocals, and Louie's voice is extraordinarily, exceptionally cool. No doubt! I love it. And his trumpet is superb. I'm 66, with few lifetime regrets, but I really wish I'd seen Louis perform live locally at the Newport Jazz Festival back in the sixties. I could've easily done that if I'd been more aware of what was going on musically at that point in my life. Instead, it was cars, cars, cars.

The Gower Wassail
This is another example of why I love this thread.
This group is new to me and I really like them. After a simple search I found another gem by Steeleye Span:

Thanks, Ransom (and Toyman, and Karl) for introducing new music and artists to me that I never would have known about otherwise!

I really like the music and the artists. But in my opinion, I'd rather they'd forgone the 18th century theme and just made it contemporary. The performers are fantastic in their own right. No need for theatrics to overshadow the talent. Sometimes so-called "artistic" concept, production and direction overshadow the actual performance. I think that's what happened here.
But you can't control that! Thanks for the excellent music!

A very unusual performer, but a good one nevertheless. I've been a fan of her's for around 15 years. Saw her at the Providence Performing Arts Center a few years ago with her full, very talented band, including a hurdy gurdy! It was phenomenal. It was the best live performance I've ever seen in my life, which surprised me.

The temperature was in the mid-seventies today here in Southern New England. Been like this for most of the week. Tomorrow too. Unusual for this time of year around here, but I'm not complaining. So I thought it'd be appropriate to play this. I'm sitting on my deck enjoying the superb weather and a Red Rye Lager from Bucket Brewery as well! http://bucketbrewery.com/our-beers/

The Strypes - You Can't Judge A Book By The Cover
Great high-energy cover of the Bo Diddley classic, by a bunch of scruffy Irish 20-somethings who look like they shouldn't have anything like this kind of credibility and swagger.

You're welcome! I love those guys. Their originals are great too. It's like you pulled the Yardbirds 40 years into the future.
