What has been built on the VW Bug platform?

This got me thinking...what else has been built off of the basic VW bug platform?

better to ask what hasn't been built off of the bug chassis. the list would be shorter

Did I see someone post recently that only production based cars can run in Rally Cross? I ask because I've noticed a lot of VW powered rail jobs come up for sale on CL. Some are junk and some are show worthy, but right in the middle are some running examples that don't sit sky high that would IMO make great RXers.

I saw a speedboat driving down the road on 3 wheels at Sturgis once. VW based.
