In reply to Robbie :
SWEET! I learned stuff too! Were the kids interested in the mushrooms? My critters are way better than I am at hunting for them. Kinda fun. If we find one, and don’t know what it is, we look it up together...like in a REAL BOOK, not google.
One lone King Bolete was under a tree, but it was infested when cut open.
Found this cool Smores specimen on an oak tree at work this morning.

Can we change the name of this thread to "can we please stop posting pictures of mushrooms?"
Wouldn't you know it? I took a bike ride this morning and noticed a huge bracket-fungus-looking thing on the ground. Didn't have a camera on me, or you'd be looking at it right now!
This yard specimen can't decide if it wants to be a mushroom or a flower.

My son found this in a commercial planter at the village "fall fest" yesterday.
Dyer’s Polypore. Found while playing frisbee golf.

Did you feed it cashews?

Love me some tasty fungus! Sautéed some chanterelles in butter and olive oil with chives and some shallots Sunday morning for breakfast for me and my wife. Also made smoked salmon scrambled eggs. Kids were at grandmas and grandpas house so I made something for the two of us.
Looks like a Fungus Amongus

Typed in "Weird Mushrooms".
That is a deep rabbit hole.

Sounds delicious, but it could be argued that the tasty part wasn't the fungus part. ;-)

I view it as a tasty system wth the fungus as the core!
I found a lions mane last week on the family property near Mio MichIgan. I did not harvest it as I was not certain that it was edible. I did some research When I got home and now I am looking forward to eating one. This is not the one that I saw , I did not have a camera with me.
