Another thread reminded of that my in laws Tiguan tried to kill my father in law. While waiting for a tow truck they sat in the car with the windows closed and found out he was allergic to the mold that  grows since it was not terribly watertight.  How are cars still falling of assembly lines that leak enough water to grow large patches of mold?

Uhh, in the Tiguan thread on the GRM board, I mentioned my boss's previous vehicle - a Touareg.  Even days after it rained, if you opened the hatch on that thing, it would drip water on your head through the interior panel joints and speaker grilles.

I don’t have a problem like that, if I’m at a table I’ll figure out which is which.  My issue is people are opening “delis” that have no idea what they’re doing. For 40 years I’ve ordered the same thing for breakfast at least once a week. Eggs on a roll with salt, pepper, and ketchup, and it’s come fully assembled so I can eat it in my car, truck, walking etc.  I’ve stopped at a few places recently that put an egg ona roll and toss a packet of salt, pepper, and ketchup in the bag. Now I have to find a place to set it down and disassemble it to get what I want. Then when I do it on their counter next to the register they get upset.  I ask why they don’t do it in the first place and they’ve gone on about how handling toppings is to much of a hassle.  If that’s the case maybe the sandwich business isn’t the line of work they should be in.

Lol here's this "what do you refuse to buy" thread and right below it, "keurig coffee machines"... perfect.

I saw that the other day when this thread started...I'm not a big fan of you must purchase supplies from us to make your product work. Especially when the product is mediocre and overpriced.  I have 2 coffee makers that are both about 20 years old and combined cost me $25.  I can use any coffee that i want, get the taste I want, and it costs pennies per cup...

You don't have to buy their stuff. Reusable filters with your coffee of choice and they work fairly well.

I will not purchase anything from VW, or newer Mercedes Benz.

Both from a maintenance stand point and not due to expense, more so on the 'doing' it end.

I did plugs on a newer e500 benz. Should be straight forward right? Boss says its got 16 plugs like a Hemi, so I figure this should be easy. So plugs go in the side of the head with deep pockets BUT you need to assemble the socket, extension and ratchet in the space provided. Said space provided is just big enough to fit my arm into. I have a picture somewhere at home... It was not a fun time.

VW because of their requirement of special tools (or special sized tools at least) and I just have a distaste after working on a few of them. VW doesn't really have anything in their fleet that greatly interests me so its a moot point.

When it comes to fast food, the local McDonalds I refuse to go inside of. It got flooded a few years back and ever since the interior of the building smells of urine. I will still grab drive through, but will not go inside.

Only other places I refuse to go to are the 'Rent to Own' establishments. I spent waaay too much money in places like that in my younger days.

My limited experience with them is the later versions where the prepared K cups have to have the QR code.  The equipment was not mine and my options were limited to what the host(s) had on hand so better choices that are compatible may be available, but it still appears to be costly for the convenience.  I can spend a few minutes to either set my pot up the night before or let it work while I'm taking a shower considering I can grind my own beans and make it by the pot for the same cost as a cup made with a Keurig. smiley

I've never seen that kind.

I don't have one but there's one at work I occasionally use and it's pretty easy for me to make a cup the way I like it.Only having to make one cup at a time is a bonus.

CVS pharmacy.   They had one downtown, easy walk.  sometimes they didn't have enough pills to fill the prescription.

Then they closed it and built one out on the highway 3 miles away.

My local independent fills all my needs.  They will even deliver if needed, no charge.

I assume that there probably was an option to use a manufacturer provided reusable filter, but it was not made available to me.  For the prepared K cups with the proper QR code on the top my impression is that they cost $0.30 and up. Again my exposure has been limited.  But, if I'm making coffee I'm drinking at least half a pot.

If that's a reference to "someone" reportedly drinking a dozen a day......agreed.  There are several things I'll never buy and actively discourage anyone from doing so for that reason.

That may be a good decision.  I worked for them for 20 years.  Left work every day for the past few years  with a vague worry that I'd harmed someone instead of helping them.

A new car.  For one, I'll let someone else take the depreciation hit.  Two, I'm not a fan of the business model of car dealers, mainly service but sales as well.  Three, nothing new really excites me and if it does, it still will in 5 years when I'm ready to buy it with cash.

Appebees...    no chance for a strike 3 with them.   Went, was seated, 45 minutes goes by without anyone even coming for a drink order. Yeah, yeah, after I went to the bar and complained they comped a dessert.   Next time I tried ther curbside to go service.  they tell you what time to be there so you just pick it up.   I show up on time and pay for my order.   Then wait 30 minutes in the parking space.  Then they bring the wrong order. Try to make me take the wrong order, I refuse, another 30 minutes while they actually fix the meal I had ordered from them over an hour and a half ago at that point.  I called corporate on that one, got a "free meal on us" card from them.  gave it to a friend and refuse to ever eat at one again.

Hartz products having anything to do with food or medicine (or anything else at all).  http://www.hartzvictims.org/   almost lost a pet to their bull as many others have AND THEY STILL KEEP IT ON THE SHELVES!

Uhaul.    got trucks on 3 occasions, none ran on all cylinders.   Rented a trailer, dry rotted tired and a brake master held together with ducttape.  Tire failed (predictably) and I call their roadside assistance, tell them I am off of exit xxx on rt 70 in zanesville ohio.   They cant locate rt 70.   verbatim here is what I told them " look on your map, find baltimore maryland, now find denver colorado. its the long ass highway connecting the two, one of the longest most major roads in the country and you work in roadside assistance!?!?!).   It then takes 8 hours for them to bring us a spare tire for a trailer (which for some reason came all the way from Cleveland!?!?!).   which is equally dry rotted.   And blows another 100 miles down the road.  call again.  it will be 3 hours to get you another spare..    (this was in a shopping center in Morgantown, WV...  not in the sticks).   normally a 4-5 hour drive.  took 17+ hours.       Complained...  oh, we will refund half your trailer rental...   GFY

Those are my absolute "would rather die" ones..

Oh, I'd forgotten Uhaul.  Rented a truck and furniture dolly from them.  Used it for the agreed upon timeframe and returned it to their dropsite per their instructions.  Then two weeks later I get an overdraft notice from my bank.  Investigate and find out that Uhaul had charged me another $375!!!  Go to the Uhaul office to discuss why they felt it necessary to steal from me.  Woman claims I had kept the furniture dolly so they had billed my card for that.  Seriously?  I'm that stupid??!

I go out and throw open every truck on their lot and find the dolly that they had misplaced and blamed me for.  Sorry excuse for a skinbag woman then claims I had "snuck it in" later and wouldn't refund my money.  Corporate Uhaul was less than no help and claimed that their franchises don't have any responsibility to behave in a professional manner.  Local BBB also was no help.

Should have burned that berkeleying place to the ground.

I know why the "as of yesterday" part, but I really don't understand why anyone would voluntarily drink that paint stripper anyway, regular or the chemical filled "diet" version.

I'm fairly certain car batteries are less corrosive to your body than diet anything.

I don't know if it still works, but when they launched that proprietary bullE36 M3, you could just cut the lids off and put them on other containers.

I just remember it being a hardware hack, I haven't drank coffee in years, and when I did it was fresh ground 8 o clock dark roast.
