So, Saturday I'm going to compete in the Modified Machines Motorsports Festival (alliteration annoys all) at Lime Rock, but I didn't want to do the 3 hour drive up from Rome, NY early that morning and then drive back that evening (I have to be home Saturday night, because I have an autocross Sunday and I'm going for the Iron Man award), so a friend who I'm meeting there grabbed a hotel room in Grand Barrington. And seeing as how I have vacation time to use, I took tomorrow off. Original plan was to try and find a shop in that area to touch up the tune on my car but they are all either busy or "don't work on them furrin' cars", so that fell apart. So, what exactly is there to do in the Grand Barrington, MA area for a day? Or, even nearby? Not afraid to drive another hour or two if there is something cool around there? Thanks.

That's certainly an option. I see they have vegetarian options too, which is good, because my friend is vegetarian. Or at least he was the last time I saw him.

Baba Louie's wood-fired pizza is right in town and good (it has vegetarian options). There's a really good cheese shop there too, if you're into that sort of thing.

Plenty of hiking within short driving distance, mostly southwest of town. If the weather's nice, everything will be busy.

What sort of activities are you interested in?

isn't there a norman rockwell museum close by.

The Race Brook Falls seemed interesting until I heard that it was "not recommended for the unfit" because apparently the first two miles are pretty brutal.

Yes!  Yes there is!  Stockbridge is a quaint little Berkshires town.

Now the first of December was covered with snow
and so was the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston
Though the Berkshires seemed dreamlike on account of that frosting
with ten miles behind me and ten thousand more to go
There's a song that they sing when they take to the highway
a song that they sing when they take to the sea
a song that they sing of their home in the sky, maybe you can believe it if it helps you to sleep
but singing works just fine for me

There was some years back a lovely little high-end audio boutique in Great Barrington, if you'd like to audition some speakers.  I think they carried McIntosh stuff, along with several other highly esteemed brands.

Bash Bish Falls, over on the border with NY, is an easy 1.25 mile hike (access from the Copake Falls side). It is liable to be somewhat busy on the weekend, however - go as early as you can.

If you want more Norman Rockwell, go eat in Joe's Diner up in Lee. It was apparently depicted of one of his more famous paintings.

Did I say I was going sightseeing tomorrow? Wrong, looks like I'm figuring out why my car keeps ejecting blower belts all of a sudden
