I recently bought a truckload of Porsche 906-908 parts and in the lot was several used 908 brake rotors. I doubt they have any real value and I can't use them on my build. I don't really want to recycle them, however they do weigh a lot and take up space I don't have. I've seen clocks made from rotors. Anyone have interesting non-timekeeping uses for used rotors to justify keep them around?
I have seen rotors used for things like ashtray stands and work stands. Or saw into quarters to make bookends. Porsche barbells would be awesome.
I would display one on the wall, just because.
I remember those 906s (and, later, 907s and 908s) chasing the Ford GTs at Sebring and Daytona back in the day, running like trains all day and night. I loved those beautiful cars! I mused that they would be old and cheap by the time I got old enough to drive. Who knew?
I am reminded of Vic Elford's story about how Porsche offered him a chance, at the end of the 917 racing program, to buy his 917 for $10,000. He declined.
