Recently I sold a custom motorcycle frame online for $300 shipped (which ended up being $150). It was made back in the 70's. There's only one company that makes engine mounts for this frame, and they're a somewhat universal type, not a total bolt on affair.
The bearing cups where a $85 purchase, and the mounts were $90. I included the bearings because he asked, however i did not include the mounts.
Here is the message he sent when we were in conversation before I sold it.
"either way you only need to wrap sharp edges, and just put a label on the backbone.
does that frame have neck bearing cups? if so, can you include the neck bearings. it is too hard to match bearings to bearing cups. one ends up just buying new cups and bearings...
just so you know the 2 spacers on the rear motor mounting bolt are specific to that frame. as are the engine mounts."
I told him that I had used universal mounts and i had made them work.
I got a message yesterday, saying that I forgot to include the mounts, and that I need to send them to him, as they were apart of the deal.
So what do I do in this situation? Tell him tough luck? Ship them for free? What would you do?

It's a little tough to discern, but I don't see where you offered to include engine mounts. That being said, I'd ship them at his cost just to save the hassle.

Doesn't sound like they were part of the deal to me... Is this on ebay?

This was through a forum.
I'd offer to pay the return freight, give him his money back, then make a video of me crushing the frame, and post it on the forum.
I tend to be a bit of a knob that way, though.
If there were pics of the frame with mounts attached, I would expect them to be included with the frame, unless spelled out clearly that they were not included. Hopefully you did that. If you did, than point that out in the text of the original listing.
If you don't need them, just send the dude the mounts via the least costly shipping method. See if you can get him to pay for the shipping, but don't make a fight out of it, especially if the listing wasn't crystal clear.

I think I'm just going to ship them. It seems like too much of a hassle to try and reverse everything.
