There's lot of old folks here in Central PA, so it's just boring old people cars- Cadillac DTSs, Buicks, Lincoln Town Cars, etc.

Also anything with Maryland or Jersey plates, although that could go either way. Slow as molasses, or they're trying to break the land speed record while talking on a cell phone and cutting across 16 lanes of traffic at once without a turn signal and inches between their bumper and other cars' bumpers.

I understand why they are all dottering around at 35mph. It feels like 75 in a normal car. Those little o-rings they use for tires mixed with a structure roughly as rigid as a styrofoam MG do not inspire a great deal of confidence. I bet those people actually think they are going pretty fast. They are probably white-knuckling the whole time.

This reminds me of a comment made here a while back:

loosecannon said: "I find that the older cars, while slower, actually feel faster and are more fun. My 1980 911 was a hoot on the track but the 2011 911 I drove recently was 4 seconds quicker around the track but not as fun....I also loved driving a classic Mini and owned a new MINI, both were outstanding but I had to drive a lot faster in the new one to be as entertaining as the old one."

recently it has been me. While I will do the speed limit, Since I starved the head on my Saab for oil and ruined the cam bearings, I have to keep the revs below 2500 or risk listening to some of the most aweful racket from the engine.

Next week I will have the Ti back on the road.. and all will be right with the world

Around here it's the Prii, got stuck behind a white one this AM. Then it's Buicks and Mercury Grand Marquis. Accents are usually slow on the highways but driven like a bat out of hell around town, usually by some fat chick texting like mad. Gotta watch out for those.

I swear Camry drivers change lanes just to end up blocking the lane I'm in. Whenever there's a slowdown for no good reason, 70% of the time it's a Camry out front.

Top three:

-astro (cargo or passenger version doesn't seem to matter)

-tercel

-corolla (25% chance they might be a boy racer that moves 30km/h above the speed of traffic, instead of 10-20km/h below)

i've seen that. its like theyre comfortable going 45 mph and ONLY 45 regardless of whether its safe or not, in town or on the highway.

Not a car but often it's a Harley-Davidson, especially if there are any curves or hills around.

Vans. Minivans, work vans, church vans, molester vans, even DAJIBAAANNNSSS!!! (OK, I made that last one up) These invariably rusty and battered rolling road blocks wander into the left lane all too often when I go to work in the afternoon. They always do 55-60mph in what is effectively a 75-80mph lane, oblivious to the fact that a) everyone else was going much faster than they were until they showed up and probably had to panic brake to avoid rear-ending their illegally uninsured tetanus-mobile overstuffed with mewling crotchfruit and/or heavy tools, and b) traffic in the middle and right lanes was crawling along at 50-60mph just like they were. High-beams are ignored or, at most, earn you a middle finger. Passing on the right is, sadly, the only way to get past the offending people-carrier and possibly get it through the driver's thick skull that he needs to get over to the middle lane. Sometimes, pick-ups towing trailers also fall into this category. The only vans that don't do this are certain work vans who drive like maniacs, just as nature intended for M@$$hole drivers.

P.S. The speed limit on I-495 is 65mph, and travel is prohibited in the left lane, but this. Is. MASSACHUSETTS!!! In a perfect world, I'd cruise along at 65-70mph to work every day. No one drives at these speeds on I-495 South around 4pm- it's either screaming by at 75-85mph or doddering along at 60mph-below.

It used to be Buick drivers w/ white hair but anymore it's Prius drivers doin' 45 in a 55 zone... guess they're trying to extract every drop of fuel to save the planet.

There's some self-importan d-bag in a Prius on my way to work every morning doing at least 10 under the limit.

I don't give a rat's ass if it's the optimum operational speed for your vehicle, get the hell out of the way.

My wife and I play a game where we look for trends in types of cars driving poorly or going slow, and this is the trend we see. Cars we don't ever want to be behind are: Camry,Carolla,Saturn, any champaign colored car(drive on the sidewalk if you have to get around a champaign colored Camry), old men wearing a hat or any driver that you can't see their head above the seatback.

Funny, I drive a Corolla and I'm usually well above the limit.

I think it needs to be revised to "front wheel drive corollas"

C5 Corvette convertibles and liftbacks (whatever they're called).

I drove a Ranger for a few years. With the crank window rolled down and the the left elbow hanging out of it, it just seems right to go right around the speed limit.

Worst offenders, without a doubt, are VW vans. Last time I was in Oregon they ruined what could have been a great drive up the Pacific Coast Highway by magically appearing in front of me every time I got to a twisty (i.e. both fun and no passing) section of road. I eventually gave them the benefit of the doubt because I figured they probably had the gas planted. Besides, there's little satisifaction in screaming, honking at or flying by a 65 year old, fully-baked hippie; they just don't care.

Fortunately, here in MI, they all rusted into nothingness before 1980.
