So, I'm getting some of these in the spring:
I was going to get 18''x8'' ones because i have 18''s of these:
With about 35% life left in them. This would help because i only have to buy wheels then because i already have tires. But the tires need to be replaced probably this summer.
But i was thinking of getting 17''x8'' versions of those Rotas to be lighter. But then i would also have to buy new tires, and i when i get new tires i want to get these:
So what do you think i should do?
1.) Just buy 18'' ones to save the initial cost of tires.
2.) Just go for the 17'' ones, sell the tires you currently have, and just buy the Direzzas.
3.) Other GRM Geniusness
Slightly unrelated, i just bought these Blue Anodized Extended Open-Ended Lug Nuts for when i get my new wheels!
35% tread left?
buy the 17s and cut your losses.
Thanks for the opinion.
Option 1.)
Wheels - $820
Eventual Tires - $804
Total - $1,624
Option 2.)
Wheels - $732
Tires - $596
Total - $1,328
Option 2.
Lighter, and tires in the future will be cheaper as well as now.
option 2. Just had similar with our truck. The smaller wheel option saves us $50 per tire.
Thanks a lot guys. I wonder how much i can sell my Nittos for. 225/35/18 W-rated.
you might be able to get something for them.. but do not expect much. By the time you get down to 20%, there is not a whole lot left to a tyre as far as grip and response is concerned.. 30% left on yours is not a lot of time
What are they going on? A 24" tire is an odd size, the 18s will be hard to sell.

They've been on my 02' Celica GT-S.
