I decided like an idiot to cut the grass Saturday on the hottestday of the year, in the middle of the afternoon. It didn't help that old faithful didn't want to restart after I stopped for a water break, twice. Starting fluid, removed the airfilter, relieved the pressure in the gas tank, etc. It finally restarted both times but I feel like the end is near.
I really need at least a self-propelled with the hills in the backyard anyway. Not getting any younger.

Go hound the nearest Goodwill. When I wasn't looking (Jan-Mar), they came up regularly. There are usually a few guys that pick them up and flip them on CL. These guys know everyone at the store and practically get called when they come in. 2 weeks ago, I was gonna complain to the Manager for prectically handing the REGULAR a nice Honda Mower that looked mint, with a 29.95 sticker on it. It's a scam. They walked together, while the Manager went our back, then opened the doors and practically gave the REGULAR the mower. I was pissed. The only reason I didn't complain was because I had already bought one on CL a week before.

Now I really want one of those.
A guy up the street had a Honda-powered self-propelled mower at the curb. I was too slow and missed it. With a Honda power plant, you just know you could get it running in 5 minutes.
With my brides track record with lawn mowers I've never dared buy a new one. The biggest problem is that she mows like she's trying to set a track record with the lawn mower. Did you know that if you catch a root with the discharge shoot just right you can fold the deck back into the blade in such a way that the blade will slice a chunk of the deck right off?
