Obviously there must be industrial-scale stolen car smuggling going on to get them out of the country in a day or two, vs. the weeks to months you might expect the process of getting a car shipped to take...
The included video of car theft via key code programing is rather sobering!

A Canadian vehicle driven in 19-13 winters should be rather rusty. This rust must be a big surprise in the Sahara climates

I still wonder what the hell happened to my Mk1 Jetta GLI that was stolen off the street in the middle of the night over 10 years ago. Still have the keys and title just in case I get a call someday, but I'm guessing it was stripped for parts or something.

When I lived in Nigeria, it if was a Luxury car, it was more than likely stolen. The discounts were huge and the law was paid well to ignore the whole thing.
You had to really be tapped into the corruption of the oil/gov money to afford a legit luxo car, but there were a lot of wanna-bees that wanted in to the corrupt core and tried to talk the walk with the stolen cars.
But that was way back in the 90s. I am sure it is all better now.
I've had friends' cars stolen in Montreal. Right out of "secure" parking garages. Regular thing there. In one instance the guy was visiting his girlfriend a number of times over a few weeks with a brand new STI and parking in the same place. He was certainly targeted. The police take your info and tell you to call your insurance company cause it ain't getting found!
