Since everyone here knows much more than automotive stuff I figured I'd ask.
I've got a little cousin singing a song in his 3rd grade talent show. He's singing a song I had never heard of (that doesn't mean much) until he asked if I could find the instrumental version and make a CD with it on it for him. I didn't promise to do anything other than try.
The song is "Strong" by Will Hoge. Not a bad song, but I can't find an instrumental version legal or pirated anywhere. I've found a handful of covers but no instrumentals.

Any suggestions? Could something like Adobe Audition edit out the vocal track of an .mp3?
Thanks!
I sometimes find full instrumental albums when searching torrents. For instance, I have 27 Evanescence albums and one is instrumental. It can really be hit or miss.
Search around for an MP3 online. I did a quick search, but came up empty. If I didn't have to go play WIFFLE Ball, I'd look more.
Look for a karaoke version of the song. Torrents is where I would start too.
I've scoured torrent sites, and have tried a couple different audio editors, no dice.
All of the Karaoke/Vocal Removal filters I've tried don't actually get rid of the vocals they just make the singer sound like a guy singing quietly really far away in a tunnel.
Depending on how it was recorded, you may not ever find clearly separated instrumental tracks.

Can anybody get me a CD or Rage Against The Machine's first album with the vocal tracks removed? I'll trade, or pay, or something. Love the music. Hate Zack.
I don't know how broad the catalog is, but I think there are a series of recordings out there that go by the name "Naked Tracks" or something like that.
I know that some that are already instrumental will have the lead instrument removed, but there may be versions that have vocals removed (for songs that have vocals).

Not knowing much about him, I can't say that I hate, even dislike him, but I too would really dig instrumental only versions of several of the groups songs.
I hear you though as I've heard tidbits about other singers and after hearing that they are wife beaters or something, I really dont even care to listen to them anymore.

Rage lost me when they decided that Mumia should be released and they would throw all their weight behind it.

Wow, thanks for reminding me about that. Not intending to derail this thread but as long as you mention that, several big name tv/movie actors supported that murdurous creep from what I recall.

Yep, I've seriously missed Ben and Jerry's ice cream but they backed him too so they're off the list
Get a copy of the song.
Then Google remove lyrics from song... There are loads of results... The choose the one that works best for you.

Yeah and the vast majority all include how to use Audacity to remove vocals, which I've done and got the results posted earlier. I've also used Camtasia and Adobe Audition with similar to worse results. Granted I'm a novice at these programs but I can read and follow a tutorial pretty well.
I haven't tried a manual removal method in Audacity yet, I found instructions for that, but don't have high hopes of it being much, if any, better than the Vocal Removal tool built into Audacity.
