Occasionally I need to upload a photo so that I can imbed it in a message board post like this one. In the past I have used image shack but it appears they are a pay service now. Is there any place that will let me upload images and direct link to them for free? What do you guys use?
I use photobucket.com and sometimes hotlink directly from facebook. If you use photobucket, you have to make sure the folder is set to "public".
Another vote for photobucket here.
I use photobucket too. You can pay for upgraded features and space but I've used a free account for at least 10 years and never felt the need to upgrade.
Thanks guys! Photo bucket it is; it seems to work!
google picasa gallery... use Google picasa program to do minor edits/tweaks/crops and use it to upload to your gallery online... think they give you a 15gb limit
but I've also been known to link from facebook and back in the day used photobucket
seems like 90% of the time when i see a broken image link its got that default photobucket image telling you to visit photobucket.
ive had imageshack for years. a couple years ago they said they were limiting each account to 500 images. so i created a second account, and had to sift thru my old E36 M3 and delete stuff i didnt want to not lose stuff i wanted to keep. NOW they changed their terms again and now every account has some absurd several GB limit instead of a limit of photos. Kind of stupid but both my accounts still work and are free. if you have to pay for an account now, maybe i am grandfathered in? I have no idea.
I also have a free flickr account and i more or less use that one exclusively now. it doesnt really make it easy to post photos by providing easy to access links but once you figure out the slightly convoluted process to copy links to images, you can choose the size of image you want to share. which is handy for certain forums.
fwiw i also have a photbucket account thats still active but i havent uploaded anything there in several years.
Photobucket is the suckzor. Flickr has never given me problems.
I use photobucket and have for about a decade. When my Fiat build thread started getting a lot of views I was hitting my bandwidth limit by the 10th of a given month so I ponied up for the pro.
I absolutely hate the new format they forced on us with "photo stories" and "personal hashtags" I bemoan the loss of the statistics that I could use to see where my images were being viewed and what forums around the world were hotlinking my images. I liked seeing Turkish and Russian folks geeking out on my car and what I was doing to it, now I have no idea.
But all my photos are there and even if I found a service I liked better there is no way I could go through and edit random posts in threads to change the links of the thousands of images I host there.
I've used Photobucket for eons, but I've been putting more of my stuff up on my own website, so I tend to link pics off there.
I use min.us which is a lot like imgur.
photobucket is awesome, keeps the quality of the photos good, and their app works decently which is always a surprise!

True. I forgot about just how much I use the phone app to upload and shuffle pics around.

Why would anyone buy a windows phone?
It's a work phone, I had no choice. But I like it a lot. Just some apps don't work on it.
Why? We don't drink Kool-Aid.
I've been using Photobucket forever. 90% of the pictures are taken with my phone and uploaded from there. Hard to beat simple and quick. A couple of months back I started blowing my bandwidth every month so I upgraded to pro. I'll probably stick with them until they do something stupid.
