Generally I make a missed it by this ---||--- much joke in regard to giant meteor memes but today isn't that day.

I would not be wasting my vote. I'm going with Mickey Mouse, cause I KNOW he is the only Candidate running.

Hedging my bets by going with Chuck Norris for VP!

These are great. I'd tick Picard/Riker...

I gotta say the write-in thing confuses me. Can you just put anyone you want? What happens if everyone votes for Randy Pobst - does he have to be president, even if he doesn't want to? Or what if everyone just writes in Obama - does he get a third term?

Or if everyone writes in someone's name, but there are lots of people out there with the same name? Do you have to give their home address & phone number or what? What if a write-in wins by a landslide but literally everyone misspells them on the ballot? Too many unanswered quessssstions!

I've got a real-life duo that I'm ready to write in. A pair who are capable of taking the junk the people who came before them have left, and hack it into something functional under deadline:

Freiburger, Finnegan 2016!

So the country would be rebuilt with scrap parts and whatever was laying around whatever fan garage they parked themselves in, and it would get a few miles down the road before they had to strap the hood to the roof because of overheating.

Yup, still better than any of our choices.

I was going to say Forsberg/Tuerck 2016, but Freiburger/Finnegan would get my vote (if I were American).

It isn't impossible, but it is so improbably that it is basically impossible.

  • Only 43 states allow it, and some states require said write in candidate be registered to count (note that this is different from being registered to vote, and different from being a nominee)
  • Even Hillary or Drumpf doesn't have to accept--in that case, it would go to the next in line (Pence or Kaine); if the next in line didn't want it it would go on down. In the event of a write-in, without a VP, it would go to the Speaker of the House.
  • Obama can't get a third term. The vote would be thrown out since he is ineligible.
  • The rest (same names, misspelling, etc) are too far fetched to get into

Fun, somewhat related question though: What is the longest someone can serve as President?

In reply to mtn:

Hypothetically, if a POTUS were elected, then died shortly after being sworn in, the VP would complete that term, then could run for his own two. So, just shy of 12 years

My favorite Presidents

False!

They can only seek a "third" term (second elected term) if their "first" term (inherited) is less than 2 years. So 10 years is the answer.
