Yeah, deadlines, it's been a week. Sorry, insurance company, for getting it in at the buzzer. (Okay, technically, I was about 13 minutes late.)

I used to do that in the analog world all the time. After a while, and some stupid finance charges, I started just paying them all online in the middle of the month. I just set the actual pay dates to be a few days before due.

Yea I learned the hard way that you definitely don't want to pay insurance bills too late. They cancelled my policy and when I went to restart it I was treated as a brand new customer. So much loyalty.

Not me, although I do sometimes.

I typically try to mail the bill off the day after I receive it.

I pay them as soon as I can, it often ends up last minute.

For utilities and big companies that make a lot on the interest of just holding money - they get it at the last minute. For little companies - I'm quick.

Nobody makes a lot of interest just holding money today. The private corporation known as "The Federal Reserve Bank" is the reason for that, and why you get 0.001% interest on your savings account today. So, besides not having the money, there is no reason at all to pay a bill at the last minute. OK, maybe you just like the thrill, like bidding on ebay 1 second before the auction ends.

When I was younger, I always forgot to pay my bills on time. It was horrible. Now I have everything that I can on some sort of autopay system.

What irritates me is the utility submetering company does not have autobilling. What is this, 1992?

Since starting to use my bank's billpay, I pay them as they come in. Open up envelope, a few keystrokes on the kitchen laptop (or mobile app), in the trash they go.

My insurance payment comes out of my account automatically. Everything else I pay either quarterly, or whenever I get around to it.

I have written less than 20 checks in the last 2 years. The box of checks sitting in my desk will last me the rest of my sentient life.

Entered into my banks electronic bill payer within a day or two of receipt, but paid the business day before the due date. Wish Time Warner would update their "warning system" so I didn't get a notice the day after I pay their bill saying my bill is due today. I mean I berkeleying paid it yesterday you dumb E36 M3s...

the corporation i work for doesnt even pay them before their due. their usual plan is to wait until about a minute before they go to collections. which is why i have to check which suppliers i can buy from day to day, depending on which one billing has pissed off or ignored this week...

i need a new job.

Exactly the way I do it. And I set the date to the bill due date. It makes me feel good.
