Dove into the deep end of the aquarium hobby while I was up north without a place to work on cars. Been slowly trying to decide if I want to go deeper, or get out since we've moved back to the south. Anyway, won a drawing for a hand sized mat of dwarf baby tears at the last local aquarium club meeting. Realized I don't have a tank for it to go into and would rather not see it go to waste. Was going to post it up on a facebook group, but I thought I would give the Hive a chance at it just in case there were some closet aquarist in here. Let me know if anyone wants it.

Only if they came from a young Peter Dinklage. cheeky

But seriously, I miss having an aquarium but my lease explicitly says no aquariums. And 1000+ miles doesn’t help the situation.

Wow, that stuff is really cool!  I wonder how it escaped me when I was looking to add plants?

Do you think it would survive a USPS flat-rate shipment?

THe former aquarium owner is curious: can Baby Tears serve a food source?

It looks like it's freshwater only, will it handle South American (high ph) cichlids?

yeah no worries there. They've been bagged for 2 weeks now, I was going to change the water on them with some old tank water during water changes tomorrow for some extra food. They're still REALLY green.

It would very likely become a food source for a SA tank. Pretty finicky plant. It's listed as an advanced level plant just due to it's light and fertilizer requirements. It's one I've been wanting to play with, but for some reason I'm having a massive melt off of really established plants right now.  Still trying to put my finger on that. Not going to add these to the headache.

For a minute there, I thought you were trying to keep baby ear snails in the aquarium. That would have been strange.

Wow, weird!

I got the dwarf tears yesterday, thanks for sending them up :)

So far, no one has uprooted them, so maybe they'll have a chance to root down!

I'll grab a pic next time I'm home when the light is on, I didn't get to see them much today.

Something in the moonsnail family. It has a "foot" that's too big to pull into the shell.

That's awesome, and weird at the same time. Kind of disturbing honestly. but hey.... to each their own. I never thought I would want to keep stingrays as a pet, but I'm plotting my move out of FL so I can pick up a few freshwater rays. (They're a no-no here)

There's some very strange sea creatures out there - I've heard of marine biologists who have given up on science fiction because they read too many authors whose idea of a bizarre alien beast wasn't half as weird as the specimens they study in their day job. That said, I can't imagine somebody keeping baby's ears in an aquarium - they're just white blobs that hide under the sand.

There are definitely some oddballs. The pipefish comes to mind.

Hey, man. I'll explain to you the main problem. There are some types of worms, that can be met in aquarium: good ones and bad ones. Bobbit worm is a bad one and fire worm is a good one, for example. They have similarities, so it's difficult to deffer them. It just a drop in the bucket, [or a whole can of worms in the canoe.  which never ends well.]

Bobbit worm?  I thought that had been cut off....
