Another 98 Sonoma regular cab?

I could do it right, but not with a kid. Make it a V8 manual, put some 35" super swampers on it and have a fun little toy.

My first car was a 73 Javelin 360/727 that I owned for all of 6 hours before driving it to a junkyard. So, yeah, I scratched that itch...

Second one was a 91 Subaru Loyale sedan. Nope, no need to visit that one again. Third was an 86 Nissan Hardbody (VIN 000409!) and 10 years later I bought a 96 Hardbody, so I did that one again. After that gets murky. The car I modified and loved the most up until the Javelin was an 88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. On that one, I'm really close to wanting to do it again, only this time with a Cobra IRS and a new 2.3 EcoBoost...

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Thankfully, I'm only somewhat addicted to it now.

I don't have a ton of desire for my first car in particular, but my early driving years were filled with 1970s GM V8 RWD cars, that while they had their issues, I still enjoyed. I am hoping that the 92 S10 I'm building for the challenge will be an acceptable placebo - 305 V8, automatic trans with a column shifter, overboosted recirculating ball power steering, solid rear axle, and all.

Yeah, kinda,First car was a '63 Sprite (not actual picture of my car): What I really wanted was a bugeye, so once I was able, I bought the worst one I could find. Only time will tell if I am merely torturing the poor thing before finally laying it to rest in a scrap yard.

My first car was a '67 Jeepster Commando. I'd like to find another nice one. I traded a Civil War cannon for it, but that's another story. My second car I'd also like a do over, a '67 Cougar XR7 GT, 390 4-speed.

Not my cars, for reference only.

And this, who doesn't want to see this?

It wasn't my first car but my first car I really did a lot of work to. 1991 Galant VR4 1439/2000. Sold it after many years then it got hailed on in TX. Bought it back and did full paint/body work to it in Atlanta. After another year or so then I sold it knowing there was no more unfinished business with the car.

Stock with some Forgeline RS from 2005 when I first got it.

Right before I sold it the first time (suspension wheels, JDM bumpers, 272s, 50 trim, te37s, EVO VIII interior.)

After buying it back, paint and body work, then sold it again (two tone body,CF hood/trunk, Advan SA3As):

That's what I was into 10 years ago at least.

A 95 Ram 2500 with a 360 and bad ball joints?

Yeah I'll pass, thanks. More nostalgic about a car my dad had while I was growing up, but it's getting hard to find 79 Magnum XEs in light tan.

When I parked my first car in a lot and walked away from it forever.

The first car I actually purchased was a 1975 formula 400. I got a chance to drive an exact copy and it was fun but at that moment I realized I never wanted to ever own one of my past cars.

They are better as memory's.

I still have mine in the garage, an 86 Monte Carlo, in case I ever get some spare time. So far it's been sitting about 15 years so it needs pretty much everything.

Sort of. My first car was a 1961 Pontiac Catalina - the bottom line car that year, a plain old four door sedan with the base engine and automatic transmission. 40 years later, I still have a 1961 Pontiac, same color, except this is one I wished I had in the first place; a two door Bonneville hardtop with the top of the line tripower engine and four on the floor.

I still have my first car, and depending on the day I either want to sell it or build it right.

I really wanted a 1g DSM in high school. I do often fight the urge to find one a build it how I wanted. Thankfully there are no nice ones left, so fighting the urge isn't too difficult

Be careful what you wish for with this crowd.

Do I have a longing for a '71 Mercury Comet? No... not really.

However, my first car was supposed to be my mother's '71 Demon. Slant 6, automatic. I did my first attempts at rust repair replacing the trunk floor in our apartment parking lot with that car. Sadly, it became a victim of my parents divorce as we just didn't have the time or money to save it. Do I want another '71 Demon? Oh berk-yeah... in the worst way. I want it with a slant 6 too. I'll do a 6 spd conversion, add 6 ITB EFI, paint it black with red accents and call it the "Demon 666". Of course, my mother - now a born again christian - would never ride in the car...

More recently, I had bad thoughts about a '91 Acura Integra for sale at the end of my street. Black, two-door, tan leather, 5 spd - just like the car I owned from '96 through '02 and wish I'd kept as a track/autocross car. However, the $4000 asking price killed those thoughts real quick.

My first car was a 1971 Datsun 510 2-door, in orange. Every time I see a picture of one I wonder if I should go find another one. Over the last 20 years I have test driven two, and both were still decent driving cars by then current standards.

Interesting timing. I still have my first car, a 95 T-bird with the 4.6. I parked it about 7-8 years ago and haven't driven it since, but I've just started collecting parts to return it to daily driver use.

There are loads of nice DSMs out there. They aren't $2000 though.

If you got on a DSM forum and said I want the nicest 1g AWD I can get for 8-10k , you'd be surprised what's out there.
