So what started as some stomach pain on wenesday turned into my appendix bursting yesterday. I drove to work in the morning, left early and took a short nap in the car, I woke up to a 103.5 Degree fever. Drove the 30 minutes home, by the time i got home I could barely climb stairs. An hour or 2 later confirmed a very messy cat scan, my appendix had broken into 2 pieces and was in a lot small pieces in my gut. They ended up cutting from my belly to groin area to be able to remove an abcess that had already formed. if anyone has any recommendations for recovery I'd love to hear it, I know it's going to be sore for awhile.

Ouch, burst appendix gets very serious very quickly. Glad to hear you're on the mend, even though it's going to be a long one. Bags of frozen peas are the standard recommendation. Good luck to you.
In reply to Duke:
I got lucky that I left work when I did and my wife was able to drive me to the hospital quickly, after the cat scan they had it out within a few hours. I will take that frozen peas suggestion, thanks!
A burst api is really bad. That's why you got the full whack.
Follow the discharge instructions exactly. Keep the pootie soft. No straining. No lifting of anything heavier than a gallon of milk for 6 weeks, or as I would say in Spanish "no lifting your six brothers." My hospital Spanglish was not perfect.
Ouch! Take your meds, follow instructions, heal up. Good luck man!
In reply to Dr. Hess: I will be sure to follow their instructions directly. It's going to be hard not lifting anything heavy since my 10 month old son is 20 pounds.
In reply to KyAllroad: thank you! I've taken a liking to the dilauded here in the hospital.
Once you are done with the meds take a good probiotic supplement to repopulate your body with good bacteria. I had my appendix out and was never quite the same after. I had all kinds of health problems that were seemingly unrelated to my appendix removal. They actually we're related to the antibiotics I had taken during recovery. It wasn't until years later I started taking probiotic supplements. I have no problems now, in fact it will be 5 years this January since the last time I was sick.
