How do you make a field required?

The only help I can find is, "Use the Field Properties Ribbon Bar". Awesome. Mine is not displayed nor can I figure out where to go to display it

Thanks.

In reply to CamaroKeith: In a form? If in a form, I believe you should be able to right-click the field you want to make required and hit properties.

Also, doesn't Access have that "Search for command" function in it somewhere?

In reply to szeis4cookie: Right clicking gives you table properties and not field properties.

If there is a search for command function, I don't know how to do it.

The last time I used Access to any extent was probably 8 years ago in a college class.

I don't run Access 2010 here at home. I have a copy of it on a box at work. I hate the new 2010 interface. Sux bad. \What you are looking for is "Allow Nulls" or "Allow Null". And you want "no." To get there, search for "design table." If you right click on the table, you MIGHT get a Design option. Then click the field, then look for the property of the field.

If you don't have it figgered out by tomorrow, lemme know and I'll look at my work box and tell you more exactly.

I tried to post two screen shots on here from Flickr and I can't get it to work.

This is just further irritation on the project and i haven't used Access in probably 8 years and I just don't ever remember using this.

So, like I said, right click on the table name, then select Design. Click on the Field Name. Below, in General, you can play with the properties. I'd try Required=Yes and maybe Allow Zero Length=No for starters.

You'll need to log in to post.
