Plausible excuses:

a.) All the good cars were already taken.

b.) My wife was going to get pregnant and I had to be there.

c.) I had another event not in Gainnesville.

d.) I really really want to but don't have the time, skill or SWMBO consent.

e.) I don't know where Florida is.

I'm going with C, had another event.

My son got married at a Vineyard on Long Island, what a hoot. Too much information and photos to get into one posting but go ahead and assume 120 people had a helluva good time.

Fireworks were involved.

I would go with F. I was too F-ing busy to even think about building a challenge car. Maybe next year.

My deal on a $500 windstar fell threw. I already have 2 sets of wheels for it lying around. Strip it out, short sticky tires, and have fun.

But my sister will not keep it past next tax return.

B, sorta, three little ones eating all of the money that she isn't spending on grad school. Before you ask, yes, at times $2011 would have broken me this month.

I realized that I hate haggling for a budget, sold the E36 chassis and the 6.2L motor, put the money into a set of Hoosiers for my real race car and finished the season with a top 10 at NJMP. I had enough left over so I bought a lathe.

I really can't say I'm sorry I didn't go. I do kick myself thinking about how a 600hp V8 E36 would do at the UTCC though. Unfortunately... it was looking like an extra zero over the Challenge budget.

No, because you could have moved to Florida and had the Challenge out your front door....

Oh and don't forget to bring the outboard, Florida is pretty flat ;)

Usually the challenge is held the same weekend as Crow Mountain Hillclimb and I've been a volunteer corner worker for every year the event has been held. Don't want to mess up my record. This year it was the following weekend and I used up my SWMBO pass for the Hillclimb and our 30th anniversery.

I haven't got the time, skill, or money. Sounds like a hoot, but I'm challenged to change the oil sometimes.

So I'm in the "D" camp then.
