One of my favorite avant garde breweries, Dog Fish Head, has formulated a beer from a 9,000 year old recipe, the oldest ever discovered. They are now releasing this for your enjoyment.

Pricey stuff. I can usually justify better beer for a few bucks more, but that's a little much. Still, it seems like an occasion instead of an everyday thing. I'd like to try that Midas brew, if they still make it. I've seen DFH, but haven't tried it. How's the rest of their stuff?

raison d'etre.....
many of their beers are top rated...
$13 for a wine bottle sized brew.. Some of that crazy ass craft brewed stuff is silly money. Sam adams has a $100 a bottle brew http://onlythemost.blogspot.com/2008/07/worlds-most-expensive-beer-samuel-adams.html

I love dogfish head, but haven't been a fan of many of their really strange beers. 60 and 90 minute IPA's are great. The 750ml Squall IPA is AWESOME. I'll throw back a World wide stout or 120min IPA if I feel like getting tanked. I don't mind having a raison d'etre every now and then, but when it comes to a lot of the stuff they make in 750ml bottles - I've found most of it disgusting. I'd try anything once, so I'll pick this up if i find any.
On a side note, if you're talking good microbrew and can find a bottle in/near NC - or a tap - , try LoneRider. Really great stuff.

I'm bottling my 60 min clone right now.
Midas Touch is pretty good, very different from any other beer I have had.

Yeah, it's pricey. I can't imagine this being a beer I'll commonly drink. It's just so interesting intellectually that I'm itching to give it a try sometime.

Let me know hot that turns out. I may want that recipe from you. I'd like to really try an ultra-hoppy brew.

I really like Midas Touch. Kinda have to be in the mood for it, but it is an amazing beer.

I got the recipe from homebrewtalk. (here)
I'll let you know how it is in a couple weeks when I crack open the first bottle. I modified the recipe slightly by adding a few more hops during the boil, I didn't have a secondary fermenter for the dryhopping so it is a bit cloudy but I'm hoping it will be good.
